Multi Port Cavity Flange

Multi-Port Cavity Robot Joint Flange — Aluminum Body Machined to a 0.01 mm Bearing Fit
A joint flange carries three interdependent faces: the locating face that seats against the reducer, the bearing seat bore, and the multi-port cavity for cables and air lines. Any face that moves during machining becomes joint backlash at assembly. This flange completes all three faces in one 5-axis setup, with stress relief inserted between operations so thin cavity walls do not release stress only after finishing.
Why the Three Faces Must Be Machined in One Setup
The classic way a cavity flange fails: mill the cavity first, then turn the bearing seat, and after two setups the relationship between seat bore and cavity is lost; or the part sits two days after machining, thin walls spring back, and 0.01 mm flatness becomes 0.03 mm.
- Five-face machining in one setup — location face, bearing bores and three port faces are all machined from one datum, so position error is not carried across operations.
- Separate roughing and finishing plus stress relief — after rough machining the part is naturally aged or low-temperature stress relieved before finishing, so springback happens on our machine instead of the customer's line.
- Thin wall deflection control — below 2 mm wall thickness we switch to small depth of cut and high feed, avoiding deflection that leaves uneven walls.
- Anodizing film thickness compensation — 25-40 µm of hard anodizing eats into the fit clearance, so the program pre-sizes for film thickness and G7 is still met afterwards.

Custom Engineering
Robot structural parts are almost always one-off designs; we machine to drawing and also take part in early structural optimization.
- Free interface — flange bolt pattern, spigot diameter and locating pin positions matched to the reducer model.
- Free cavity — port count, direction, thread specification and sealing method (O-ring or face seal) are all definable.
- Weight Reduction Options — lightening slots and pockets in unloaded zones cut weight 15-30% while stiffness is maintained.
- Pilot Runs and Volume — one sample to validate the structure, then the same program goes straight to volume.
Confidentiality and IP Protection
Confidentiality is enforced by contract, not by good intentions. An NDA can be signed before drawings are shared, and every step stays traceable.
- NDA First — mutual NDA plus non-circumvention terms; file transfer starts only after signing.
- Isolated Secure Area — access-controlled entry, no non-project staff, no photography inside.
- No Leakage — drawings, part photos and customer brands never enter sample cabinets, catalogs, the website or social media.
- Data Access Control — CAD files sit on an access-controlled server, isolated per project and destructible after delivery.
- Codified Routing — traveler cards and labels use internal codes instead of customer part numbers and project names.
- Silent Supply Chain — subcontractors see only internal codes, never the drawing title block.
Company Profile
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd.Since 2008 we have been providing custom precision machining in Dongguan, with a team of 90-102 staff, serving 200+ Customers, export share 50-60%, annual sales of USD 10-20 million, ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Robot parts are judged by whether they assemble, not merely whether they can be made: a joint is a chain of flange, housing, link and bearing seat, and any out-of-tolerance part is amplified at the assembly end. That is why turning, milling, grinding and inspection all run inside one plant, keeping the tolerance chain closed internally instead of exposing it on the customer's line.
