6061 Aluminum Circular Cavity Housing with Sealing Steps and 0.01mm Bore Coaxiality for CNC Turned Device Enclosures
Sealing Step Housing Boring
,Circular Cavity Coaxial 0.01mm
,Cover Face Turning
This circular cavity device housing is machined with the bore, all sealing steps and the cover face turned in a single set-up, so every seal seats on one common axis. Built for electronics enclosures that must stay sealed against dust, coolant mist and moisture, it is available from a single prototype piece with no tooling charge.
- Bore coaxiality0.01 mm, bore, all steps and cover face referenced to one axis
- Step height±0.02 mm, each sealing step measured individually
- Order size1 piece, prototype in 3–7 working days, no tooling charge
- StandardsISO 9001:2015 · 6061-T6, 7075-T6, 304/316L · leak check on request · exporting since 2008
Stepped sealing geometry is how a circular housing keeps dust, coolant mist and moisture out of the electronics inside. Each step carries an O-ring or a gasket at a different diameter, and each one has to sit on the same axis as the bore and the cover face — because the cover bolts down flat and compresses every seal at once. If the steps are not coaxial, one seal is over-compressed and another barely touches, and the assembly passes a bench check then leaks in the field.
We machine the bore, the steps and the cover face in a single turning set-up on a turn-mill centre, then mill the cover screw pattern and any cable port on the same machine without releasing the part. Coaxiality is checked on the CMM against one axis, each step height is measured separately, and where the customer asks for it we run a low-pressure leak check before packing.
| Step | Operation | Control Point |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bar or billet selection | 6061-T6 bar or sawn billet, material certificate matched to heat number before machining. |
| 2 | First-op turning | Outer profile, flange and the reference face turned; the part is held on a bored soft jaw so the wall is not distorted by clamping. |
| 3 | Bore and sealing steps | Bore bored, then each step turned to its own diameter and depth in the same set-up; step corners kept sharp where a seal seats, radiused where a tool would chip. |
| 4 | Cover face | Cover face faced square to the bore; flatness checked before the screw pattern is drilled. |
| 5 | Milled features | Cover screw holes, cable ports and mounting ears milled on the same machine, clocked to the datum so the cover lands in the same orientation every time. |
| 6 | Deburr and seal-path finish | Seal lands finished to Ra 0.8 µm, cross-ports deburred from inside, threads cleaned so no chip reaches the cavity. |
| 7 | Anodize with masking | Type II 10–15 µm on external faces; bores, steps and threads masked so seal squeeze and thread fit are untouched. |
| 8 | Inspection and pack | Bore, coaxiality, step heights, cover flatness and screw pattern recorded; leak check at 0.2 MPa on request; parts bagged with caps fitted. |

A housing drawing shows the internal layout of a detection module, a sensor stack or an optical assembly — geometry that describes the product, not just a shell. Before any file is opened we sign a mutual NDA, in English or Chinese, or on your own form, and return a countersigned copy before work starts. Access is limited to the project engineer, the turning programmer and the cell supervisor, with the file in a restricted folder rather than the open shop network. The cell is a camera-free area: no photographs, no video, no social posts, and no customer housing kept on display or offered to another buyer as a sample. Subcontracting requires your written approval, and at program close drawings and inspection data are deleted or returned with written confirmation.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has machined custom metal parts since 2008 — 15+ years, 90 to 100 staff, 50–60% of output exported to North America and Europe, 200+ customers served, turnover in the RMB 10–20 million band. The plant runs 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centres, turn-mill combined lathes and CNC lathes under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system, serving medical, robotics, automotive, aerospace, automation, laser, LED, lithium battery and precision instrument programs. Turning, milling, anodize coordination and inspection are all in our own plant in Dongguan.
Circular housings from this plant ship into ten sectors. The list is what customers actually order, not a marketing wish-list.
| Industry | Typical Parts We Machine |

| Consumer electronics | Phone, tablet and laptop housings / heat spreaders / camera brackets / VR and AR headset structural parts / smart wearable enclosures |
| Automation and industrial equipment | Automation jigs and fixtures / module frames / linear guide blocks / motor mounts / sensor housings / conveyor line components |
| Semiconductor and vacuum | Vacuum chamber bodies / vacuum fittings / precision bases for semiconductor equipment / thermal and insulating parts / inspection tooling |

All ten sectors run through the same plant and the same ISO 9001:2015 inspection discipline — only the material, finish and documentation package change.
- Prototype: 3–7 working days after drawing approval including anodize; 10–12 days where a leak test and thread gauging package is required.
- Small batch 10–100 pcs: 7–14 working days.
- Repeat orders: released from archived program, soft jaws and anodize rack — no re-programming, no re-masking decisions.
- Capacity: 10,000 pieces per month across the plant.
- Visibility: a dated progress note with photos of your actual housings at turning, anodize and inspection.
- Shipping: bores capped, parts bagged with protective film, foam-lined export carton, express or air and sea per your forwarder.
- Rush: weekly overtime slots held for line-down cases — give us the deadline and we confirm before the order.
They are all turned in one set-up on one machine axis, then measured on the CMM against that single axis rather than against each other. Reported coaxiality is bore-to-all-steps, typically within 0.01 mm; where the housing needs a second operation, we repeat on a bored soft jaw and include the re-fixture error in the band.
It would if the steps were coated, so the bore, steps and threads are masked and only the exterior is anodized. That keeps the seal squeeze and the thread fit exactly as machined, while the visible body still gets the full 10–15 µm coating.
Yes, on request. We cap the ports and run a pressure decay test at 0.2 MPa (or your specified pressure) and ship the record with the parts. Where the seal is your own gasket, we test with a matching gasket so the result reflects the real assembly.
1.5 mm on aluminium with soft-jaw clamping and a sequenced bore. Thinner is possible on short sections, but we will say so in the DFM note rather than accept an order that cannot hold roundness after release.
One piece, no tooling charge. Price follows bore size, number of steps, material, tolerance band, finish and leak test; a written quotation normally returns within 24 hours of receiving the drawing or model.
Yes, routinely, and a countersigned copy comes back before work starts. Only the engineer, programmer and supervisor see the file, no photographs leave the cell, and nothing about your housing appears in our catalogue or website.
Attach the model or drawing with the quantity and the deadline, and you will get a quotation, a process route including anodize and leak test, and a firm delivery date. NDA paperwork can be handled in the same exchange.
