Robot Wrist Flange Torque Sensor Mount — Two Parallel Faces on One Datum
Drift in a torque sensor reading is often not the sensor's fault, but two flange faces that are not parallel or bolt holes that are 0.03 mm off position. This part completes both flange faces, the spigot and the bolt pattern in one setup, with 0.01 mm face parallelism and ±0.02 mm hole position, giving the sensor a clean set of boundary conditions.
Why Torque Sensors Are So Sensitive to Parallelism
A six-axis torque sensor computes force and torque from the micro-strain of an elastic body. A wedge-shaped gap of just 0.02 mm under the mounting face preloads the body when tightened, bringing zero drift and cross-talk; hole position error in turn puts extra bending load on the bolts.
- Both faces from one datum — both flange faces are machined in one clamping to 0.01 mm parallelism, with no second-setup alignment.
- Hole pattern drilled and reamed in one pass — bolt holes and pin holes are drilled and reamed from the same location, hole spacing ±0.02 mm to avoid assembly stress.
- Spigot coaxial with the bore — spigot to center bore coaxiality 0.01 mm keeps the sensor centered.
- Thread strength — aluminum thread depth is 1.5 times the bolt nominal diameter, with wire thread inserts added where pull-out is a risk.

Production Process: 8 Operations
| 01 | Drawing and Tolerance Chain Review Parallelism of both flange faces, hole pattern position and sensor interface dimensions are reviewed, with an achievable tolerance allocation proposed. |
| 02 | Material and Pre-Treatment 7075-T6 bar and plate verified against the material certificate on receipt, stress relieved before roughing. |
| 03 | First face machining Turn / mill the first flange face, spigot and center bore to establish the primary datum. |
| 04 | Flip machining from the same datum The second flange face is machined from the primary datum to hold parallelism and thickness tolerance, with no shims or hand lapping. |
| 05 | Hole Pattern Machining Bolt holes and locating pin holes drilled and reamed from one location, position ±0.02 mm; threads tapped or milled to the required depth. |
| 06 | Deburring and Cleaning Hole chamfering, cavity cleaning and ultrasonic washing prevent aluminum chips from affecting assembly. |
| 07 | Anodizing Mounting faces masked and protected, 10-15 µm film; hard anodizing compensated in the dimensions. |
| 08 | Inspection and Packing CMM checks parallelism, coaxiality and hole position; dimensional report shipped with the goods; individual bubble bags with dividers. |

Custom Engineering and Fast Iteration
Every robot end-effector and sensor interface is different, so we build to your assembly drawing and support revisions during sampling.
- Interface Customization — sensor maker flanges, robot wrist flanges and tool changer interfaces can all be matched.
- Hole Pattern Customization — bolt size (M3-M10), hole count, pin hole positions, counterbore or through-hole style freely defined.
- Lightweighting — unloaded zones are pocketed without hurting stiffness, cutting weight by more than 20%.
- Sampling Iteration — first article in 5-7 days, no extra development charge for revisions, up to 3 rounds of free tooling-level adjustments.
Confidentiality and IP Protection
Confidentiality is enforced by contract, not by good intentions. An NDA can be signed before drawings are shared, and every step stays traceable.
- NDA First — mutual NDA plus non-circumvention terms; file transfer starts only after signing.
- Isolated Secure Area — access-controlled entry, no non-project staff, no photography inside.
- No Leakage — drawings, part photos and customer brands never enter sample cabinets, catalogs, the website or social media.
- Data Access Control — CAD files sit on an access-controlled server, isolated per project and destructible after delivery.
- Codified Routing — traveler cards and labels use internal codes instead of customer part numbers and project names.
Company Profile
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd.Since 2008 we have been providing custom precision machining in Dongguan, with a team of 90-102 staff, serving 200+ Customers, export share 50-60%, annual sales of USD 10-20 million, ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Robot parts are judged by whether they assemble, not merely whether they can be made: a joint is a chain of flange, housing, link and bearing seat, and any out-of-tolerance part is amplified at the assembly end. That is why turning, milling, grinding and inspection all run inside one plant, keeping the tolerance chain closed internally instead of exposing it on the customer's line.
