This 5-axis robotic arm linkage with a complex internal cavity is machined by Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd., a CNC factory established in 2008. The linkage body and its deep internal cavity are produced on 5-axis simultaneous machining centers, so the bearing bores, mounting faces and internal features are all cut to one datum. Critical features are held to ±0.01 mm and verified on a CMM, giving the robot arm the repeatability its motion profile depends on.
A robotic arm linkage is a load-bearing, moving joint element. Its bearing bores and pin bosses must stay concentric along the full length so the arm tracks without play or vibration over millions of cycles. A deep internal cavity removes weight without sacrificing stiffness — the hard part is machining inside the part where a 3-axis machine cannot reach. That is exactly what 5-axis simultaneous milling solves.
Complex internal cavities demand a controlled route. Each linkage follows an eight-stage process:
- Drawing review & DFM: STEP / IGES / SolidWorks / 2D PDF checked for cavity depth, wall thickness and tolerances.
- Material: 6061-T6 / 7075 aluminum billet with mill certificates.
- 5-axis programming: simultaneous toolpaths and fixtures designed to reach and hold the internal cavity.
- Rough & finish milling: staged stock removal to control thin-wall deflection and surface finish.
- Bore & linkage fitting: bearing bores and pin bosses machined for concentricity and fit.
- Deburr & edge break: internal cavity edges cleaned for assembly and fatigue life.
- Surface treatment: hard anodizing, polishing or per drawing.
- CMM inspection: bores, cavity, faces and linkage geometry verified with a first-article report.
The complex-cavity linkage is a starting point. We machine custom robot arm linkages, yokes, joints and connecting arms with your own cavity geometry, wall thickness, bearing bore sizes and mounting patterns — all to drawing.
Robot kinematics are often confidential. We sign an NDA before engineering review, restrict drawings to the assigned programming and machining team, and never display or reuse customer geometry. Fixtures and programs built for your part stay dedicated to your program, and surplus or reject parts are scrapped on request.
Changxinda runs a 2008-established plant with 90+ staff, multiple 5-axis machining centers and turn-mill lathes backed by a dedicated QC lab.

The complex internal cavity has surfaces a 3-axis machine cannot reach, and the bearing bores and faces must stay true to one datum. 5-axis simultaneous machining reaches the cavity and holds the geometry in fewer setups.
Staged rough and finish passes control deflection, and bores, faces and cavity are CMM-verified against the drawing to ±0.01 mm on critical features.
6061-T6 and 7075 aluminum as standard, with stainless and titanium available on request. All material comes with mill certificates.
