This square electronic enclosure houses a controller board, a power stage or an instrument module in an industrial environment. Two features decide whether it works: how flat the sealing face is, and whether the EMC gasket groove holds the gasket at a constant compression. Both are machined in one setup from a solid aluminum block, so the groove follows the cavity and the cover seats without rocking on a high corner.
The enclosure is cut from 6061-T6, 6082-T6 or 7075-T6 plate, with a wall thickness from 1.5 mm and a cavity depth held to ±0.02 mm. Corner radii, chamfers, mounting bosses and threaded inserts are machined in the same clamping. Anodizing is applied with the sealing face, gasket groove and threads masked, so the coating never changes the fit or the electrical bonding path.
- 1Drawing review and DFM. We check wall thickness, cavity depth, gasket groove section, PCB stand-off positions and connector cut-outs, then return a marked drawing and quotation within one working day.
- 2Material verification. Plate is checked against the mill certificate for grade and temper, and the block is faced square before any cavity work.
- 3Stress relief. Blanks are stress relieved so the large panel does not bow after the cavity removes most of the section.
- 4Cavity roughing. The cavity is roughed with a 0.5 mm finishing allowance, using a trochoidal path to keep heat out of the thin walls.
- 5Finishing in one setup. Sealing face, gasket groove, panel faces, corner holes and connector openings are finished without releasing the part, so the groove stays parallel to the sealing face.
- 6Threading and inserts. Threads are cut or inserts installed square to the sealing face, with thread depth checked so a screw cannot bottom and lift the cover.
- 7Anodizing with masking. Clear, black or hard anodizing is applied with masking on the sealing face, gasket groove, threads and grounding points, then the coating thickness is recorded.
- 8Final inspection and packing. CMM for panel flatness and hole position, groove section by pin gauge, leak test on request, then corner-protected packing with a first article report.
| Panel and sealing face flatness | 0.01 mm |
|---|---|
| Cavity depth | ±0.02 mm |
| Wall thickness | 1.5 mm minimum, uniform within 0.1 mm |
| EMC gasket groove | Width and depth ±0.05 mm, Ra 1.6 µm |
| Mounting hole position | ±0.02 mm |
| Thread perpendicularity | 0.05 mm to sealing face |
| Sealing performance | IP54 to IP67 with the specified gasket, air leak test on request |
| Records supplied | First article report, material certificate, anodizing thickness report |
A gasket only seals when it is compressed by the same amount all the way round. If the cover face is flat to 0.01 mm and the groove depth is constant to ±0.05 mm, the gasket sees uniform compression and the enclosure reaches its IP rating with a standard O-ring or conductive gasket. The same groove, machined cleanly with no burr, also carries a conductive EMC gasket that bonds the cover to the body — which is why we mask the groove and the grounding points before anodizing instead of relying on a masked screw thread alone.
Every enclosure is built to your drawing: outside size, cavity layout, panel thickness, gasket groove section, connector cut-outs, PCB stand-offs, mounting bosses, material grade, anodizing type and colour. One piece is a normal order with no tooling charge and no setup fee, and the prototype uses the same programme and inspection plan as the batch. If a feature adds cost without improving function, our engineer returns a DFM note with a practical alternative and waits for written approval before cutting metal.
- NDA before files. A mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed before drawings, models or samples are released, covering geometry, volume, end use and customer identity.
- No public reference. Confidential enclosures are never used as samples, catalogue items, website photos or trade show parts; photos need written release.
- Separated production. Sensitive jobs run in a designated cell with named operators, and programmes and fixtures are stored under a project code.
- Controlled data. Files stay on an access-controlled server, and anodizing partners receive the process specification only, never the assembly drawing.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has produced custom machined parts since 2008. The plant operates four-axis and five-axis machining centres, turn-mill combined lathes, CNC lathes and milling machines, with 90 to 102 employees and an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. More than 200 customers are served, 50 to 60 percent of output is exported, and annual sales are between USD 10 million and 20 million. Every custom project has a named engineer, every batch ships with a first article report, and every delivery date is confirmed before the order is accepted.
- Confirmed dates. Prototypes in 3 to 7 working days, batch orders in 12 to 20 working days after drawing approval.
- Repeat orders skip setup. Programmes, fixtures and gauge sets stay on file, so the second order starts in production.
- Reserved capacity. Blanket orders are booked into fixed monthly machine time, keeping the same part arriving in the same week.
- Early warning. If material, anodizing or leak testing threatens the date, you are told before the date is missed, with a partial shipment option.
- Dispatch evidence. Production photos, inspection report and packing list before shipment, tracking number on the day of dispatch.

Each enclosure is bagged with a desiccant sachet, protected by EPE corner pieces so anodized edges cannot chip, and packed in a five-layer export carton marked with part number, quantity and batch code. Sea freight goes on a fumigation-free plywood pallet with strapping and stretch film; air freight uses a reinforced carton with edge protectors. Neutral packing is available for distributors selling under their own brand.
Yes. The sealing face is flat to 0.01 mm, the gasket groove is held to ±0.05 mm, and we can run an air leak test on the first article or on the full batch.
It would if the groove were coated. We mask the sealing face, groove, threads and grounding points, and record the coating thickness on the report.
Yes, all in the same setup, so the stand-off height and the connector opening stay referenced to the sealing face.
Yes, before drawings are released. Confidential parts are excluded from samples, photos and case studies by default.
One piece, with no tooling charge and no setup fee.
Send the drawing with the gasket section, IP rating and connector layout, and we will return a DFM review, a quotation and a confirmed delivery date within one working day.
