Fixed brackets only have to be right once. An adjustable tilt mount has to return to the same angle every time an operator loosens the lock, tilts the camera, and tightens again. If the arc slot is machined loosely, the camera rotates about a wandering centre; if the slot is rough, the screw bites and jumps in steps; if the scale is applied as a sticker, it moves, peels, or reads to a tolerance nobody can hold.
So we machine the pivot bore and the arc slot from the same centre in one setup, finish the slot walls so a shoulder screw slides without biting, engrave the degree scale into the aluminium after anodizing so it cannot peel, and check the angle on the CMM by simulating the locked position. The result is a mount that returns to within ±0.05° of the mark — not merely one that moves smoothly.
| Stage | Operation | Control Point |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Plate and stress relief | 6061-T6 plate cut oversize, faced and relaxed so the thin arc web does not bow after the slot is cut. |
| 2 | Datum and base | Mounting base machined square, dovetail or slotted base cut, reference edges recorded as the datum. |
| 3 | Pivot bore and arc slot | Pivot bore bored and arc slot milled from the same centre in one setup so the radius is exact by construction, not by re-setting. |
| 4 | Slot finishing | Slot walls finished with a smaller tool at reduced step-down and lightly deburred so it slides without bite; slot width held to ±0.02 mm. |
| 5 | Camera face | Camera mounting face milled and its hole pattern drilled relative to the base datum; face squareness checked before coating. |
| 6 | Anodize and engraving | Matt black anodize 10–15 µm, then laser engraving of the degree scale and index mark into the coating so it cannot peel or shift. |
| 7 | Angle verification | Camera face angle set at the reference position and checked on the CMM; angular deviation reported against the engraved zero mark. |
| 8 | Assembly check and pack | Shoulder screw trial fit to confirm smooth travel and firm lock; parts bagged with protection. |
| Feature | Held To | Verified By |
|---|---|---|
| Arc radius (pivot to slot) | ±0.02 mm | CMM, both features from one centre |
| Arc slot width | ±0.02 mm | Pin gauge and CMM |
| Angular repeatability | ±0.05° | CMM simulated locked position |
| Camera face squareness | 0.02 mm | CMM to base datum |
| Pivot bore diameter | H7 / ±0.01 mm | Plug gauge |
| Camera hole position | ±0.03 mm | CMM |
| Base flatness | 0.02 mm | Granite plate plus indicator |
| Engraved scale accuracy | ±0.1° at mark | Optical comparator check |
| Anodize thickness | 10–15 µm matt black | Coating gauge, batch record |
The engraved scale is set from the same CMM alignment used for the arc slot, so the zero mark and the pivot coincide. Where a customer needs a certified angle, we report the measured angle at the locked reference position on the inspection sheet rather than relying on the marking.

An adjustable mount drawing reveals inspection station geometry, camera angle ranges and the fixture strategy of a production line. Before any file is opened we sign a mutual NDA — ours in English or Chinese, or your own form — and return a countersigned copy before work starts. Access is limited to the project engineer, the milling programmer and the cell supervisor, with the file held in a restricted folder rather than on the shop network. No photographs of customer parts are taken for our catalogue or website, customer parts are never displayed or reused as samples, subcontracting needs your written approval, and at program close files and inspection data are deleted or returned with written confirmation.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has been machining custom parts since 2008: 15+ years, 90 to 100 staff, 50–60% exported to North America and Europe, 200+ customers served, turnover in the RMB 10–20 million band. The floor holds 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centres, turn-mill combined lathes and CNC lathes under an ISO 9001:2015 system, producing parts for medical, robotics, automotive, aerospace, automation, laser, LED, lithium battery and precision instrument programs. Milling, anodize coordination, laser engraving and CMM inspection all happen in our own plant in Dongguan.
Adjustable mounts and fixture hardware from this plant ship into ten industries. Each line is a category we machine regularly, with the parts customers actually order.
| Industry | Typical Parts We Machine |

| Consumer electronics | Phone, tablet and laptop housings / heat spreaders / camera brackets / VR and AR headset structural parts / smart wearable enclosures |
| Automation and industrial equipment | Automation jigs and fixtures / module frames / linear guide blocks / motor mounts / sensor housings / conveyor line components |
| Semiconductor and vacuum | Vacuum chamber bodies / vacuum fittings / precision bases for semiconductor equipment / thermal and insulating parts / inspection tooling |

All ten sectors run through the same plant and the same ISO 9001:2015 inspection discipline — only the material, finish and documentation package change.
- Prototype: 3–7 working days after drawing approval, including anodize and engraving.
- Small batch 10–100 pcs: 7–14 working days.
- Repeat orders: run from archived programs, fixtures and the engraving file; slot and bore are cut to the same mid-band values every time.
- Capacity: 10,000 pieces per month across the plant.
- Visibility: a dated progress note with photographs of your actual mounts at milling, engraving and CMM stage.
- Shipping: slot faces protected, parts bagged, foam-lined export carton, express or air and sea per your forwarder.
- Rush: overtime slots and an express anodize line held weekly; tell us the deadline and we confirm before you order.
The pivot bore and the arc slot are machined from the same centre in one setup, so the radius is exact by construction; the slot width is held to ±0.02 mm so the shoulder screw slides without side play; and the lock lands on a flat rather than a soft anodized surface. We verify by simulating the locked position on the CMM at the engraved reference mark.
A label sits on top of the coating, so it can peel in a coolant atmosphere, shift when the mount is cleaned, and reads to a tolerance nobody can hold. Laser engraving cuts the scale into the anodized layer after coating, aligned to the same CMM datum as the slot, so the zero mark and the pivot coincide for the life of the part.
On a mount that is adjusted daily, anodize at the slot edge can polish through over time — which is why we offer hard anodize 25–50 µm on the slot and pivot for high-cycle applications, or a stainless or brass variant where cycles are very high. Tell us the adjustment frequency and we recommend the finish.
Yes. Send the camera body size, lens length, mounting thread and the angle range you need; we set the pivot position and arc radius so the lens clears the structure through the full travel. For legacy equipment, send the old mount and we measure and re-model it.
One piece, no tooling charge. Price follows size, adjustment type, engraving, tolerance band and finish; a written quotation normally returns within 24 hours of receiving the drawing or model.
Yes. NDA signed and countersigned before the file is opened, access limited to the engineer, programmer and supervisor, no photographs of customer parts, and nothing about your program in our catalogue or website without written permission.
Attach the drawing or model with the quantity and the deadline, and you will get a quotation, the process route including anodize and engraving, and a firm delivery date. NDA paperwork can be dealt with in the same exchange.
