6061-T6 Aluminum Symmetric U Bracket Camera Mount Bracket with 0.02mm Arm Parallelism and Matt Black Anodize for CNC Vision Systems
Symmetric U Camera Bracket
,Parallel Arms 0.02mm
,Vision Mount CNC Milling
A U-shaped camera bracket holds a camera between two arms, or holds a camera on a face that must remain square to a lens axis. The buyer is not paying for the shape — he is paying for the camera axis to be where the drawing says it is, on both arms, so that swapping a camera or a bracket does not require re-teaching the inspection program.
That means the two arms have to be parallel to each other, square to the mounting base, at the same height, and the camera hole pattern on each arm has to sit at the same position relative to the base datum. We machine the base, both arms and the hole patterns from one plate against one datum, measure the arms against each other on the CMM, and finish the surfaces matt so a ring light does not bounce back into the lens.
| Step | Operation | Control Point |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Plate selection | 6061-T6 plate sawn oversize and stress relieved; thickness chosen so the arms do not deflect while being cut free. |
| 2 | Datum faces | Base face and two reference edges machined square; recorded as the datum set for every later measurement. |
| 3 | Rough the U | Material between the arms removed in stages with a short rigid tool; relief cut behind the arms so they are not left under load. |
| 4 | Arm facing and profiling | Both arms faced to the same height in one programme and profiled with the outer and inner contours milled from the same datum. |
| 5 | Camera hole patterns | Holes drilled, bored or reamed on both arms in one setup; positions checked relative to the base, not to each arm. |
| 6 | Edge break and matting | Edges broken 0.2–0.3 mm; surfaces bead blasted or left as machined, then matt black anodize 10–15 µm to kill reflections. |
| 7 | CMM verification | Arm parallelism, arm-to-base squareness, hole positions, base flatness recorded; report ships with the parts. |
| 8 | Packing | Individually bagged with corner protection so anodized arms do not chip in transit. |
| Feature | Held To | Verified By |
|---|---|---|
| Arm parallelism | 0.02 mm | CMM, both arms in one alignment |
| Arm squareness to base | 0.02 mm | CMM on the datum set |

| Anodize thickness | 10–15 µm Type II matt black | Coating gauge, batch record |
Matt black anodize is a functional choice on a vision bracket, not a cosmetic one: a glossy coating reflects the ring light back into the lens and drops contrast at the edge of the field. We bead blast before anodizing to get a genuinely matt surface, and mask the mounting and mating faces so the fit is not changed by the coating.

- Geometry: U bracket, L bracket, Z bracket, single-arm standoff, tilted camera face, offset arms, three-arm version, integral lens shroud or glare hood.
- Interfaces: M2 to M8 tapped patterns, slotted base for adjustment, dowel pin holes, dovetail rail, cable pass-through, sensor mounting ear.
- Size: 20 mm to 300 mm overall, arm thickness 3 mm to 20 mm, camera face from 15 mm.

A bracket drawing shows the camera position, working distance and inspection geometry of your machine — often the most sensitive part of an automation project. We sign a mutual NDA before opening any file, in English or Chinese or on your own form, and return a countersigned copy before work starts. Only the project engineer, the CAM programmer and the cell supervisor can access the file, which is held in a restricted folder rather than the open shop network. The cell is a camera-free area: no photographs, no video, no social posts, and no customer bracket displayed or reused as a sample. Subcontracting requires your written approval, and at program close drawings and inspection data are deleted or returned with written confirmation.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has machined custom metal parts since 2008 — 15+ years, 90 to 100 staff, 50–60% of output exported to North America and Europe, 200+ customers served, turnover in the RMB 10–20 million band. The plant runs 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centres, turn-mill combined lathes and CNC lathes under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system, serving medical, robotics, automotive, aerospace, automation, laser, LED, lithium battery and precision instrument programs. Plate machining, anodize coordination and CMM inspection happen in our own plant in Dongguan.
Vision brackets and automation hardware from this plant ship into ten sectors. The list is what customers actually order, not a marketing wish-list.
| Industry | Typical Parts We Machine |
|---|---|
| Consumer electronics | Phone, tablet and laptop housings / heat spreaders / camera brackets / VR and AR headset structural parts / smart wearable enclosures |
| Automation and industrial equipment | Automation jigs and fixtures / module frames / linear guide blocks / motor mounts / sensor housings / conveyor line components |
| Semiconductor and vacuum | Vacuum chamber bodies / vacuum fittings / precision bases for semiconductor equipment / thermal and insulating parts / inspection tooling |
| Medical equipment | Surgical instrument bases / medical instrument housings / endoscope components / aesthetic device structural parts (medical grade aluminium and stainless) |
| Automotive | New energy motor housings / battery end plates / sensor brackets / lighting structural parts / retrofit components / hydraulic valve blocks |
| Aerospace and UAV | Aircraft structural parts / UAV frames / landing gear components / avionics instrument housings (lightweight precision parts) |
| Optics and photonics | Optical lens barrels / lens mounts / light source heat sinks / camera module brackets / inspection optical platforms |

All ten sectors run through the same plant and the same ISO 9001:2015 inspection discipline — only the material, finish and documentation package change.

- Small batch 10–100 pcs: 7–14 working days.
- Repeat orders: released from archived program, fixture and anodize rack — no re-programming, no colour re-approval.
- Capacity: 10,000 pieces per month across the plant.
- Visibility: a dated progress note with photos of your actual brackets at milling, anodize and CMM stage.
- Shipping: individually bagged with corner protection, foam-lined export carton, express or air and sea per your forwarder.
- Rush: weekly overtime slots and an express anodize line held for line-down cases — give us the date and we confirm before the order.
Both arms are machined in one programme from one datum and measured in a single CMM alignment, so the reported parallelism is arm-to-arm rather than each arm to itself. Where the part has to be re-fixtured, we repeat on the same ground datum with a locating pin, and the re-fixture error is included in the ±0.02 mm band.
A glossy surface mirrors the ring light into the lens and reduces edge contrast, which shows up as unstable measurements at the field edge. We bead blast before anodizing for a genuinely matt surface, hold coating at 10–15 µm, and mask the mounting faces so the camera sits flat.
Coating adds 5–7 µm per surface, which does not move a camera at working distance, but it can lift a bracket off a datum face. Mounting and mating faces are therefore masked so the bracket seats on bare aluminium; if your stack-up is critical we can mask the camera face too.
Yes. Send the camera body dimensions, the mounting thread pattern and the working distance, and we machine to suit — or send the existing bracket and we measure and re-model it, which is often faster for legacy cells.
One piece, no tooling charge and no setup fee. Price follows size, arm thickness, hole pattern, tolerance band and finish; a written quotation normally returns within 24 hours of receiving the drawing or model.
Yes, routinely, and a countersigned copy comes back before work starts. Access is limited to the engineer, programmer and supervisor, no photographs leave the cell, and nothing about your bracket appears in our catalogue or website.
Attach the model or drawing with the quantity and the deadline, and you will get a quotation, a process route including the anodize step, and a firm delivery date. NDA paperwork can be handled in the same exchange.
