Changxinda Precision Technology is a Dongguan-based contract manufacturer of custom machined parts, established in 2008, with 90+ staff and a 50–60% export share. Our production line combines 4-axis and 5-axis machining centers, turn-mill combined lathes, and CNC lathes, supporting buyers in robotics, aerospace, automation, automotive, medical, and precision instrument sectors. We build parts to drawings, in prototype quantities and in recurring production batches.
The part described here is a custom machined lightweight structural bracket in 7075-T6 aluminum: a stiffened arm or mounting bracket that carries load, locates two mating assemblies, and still has to stay light. Weight is taken out with triangular and trapezoidal lightening pockets separated by machined ribs. The design intent is a bracket that replaces a heavier steel or cast component without losing rigidity — and that is why the machining strategy matters as much as the drawing.
7075-T6 gives roughly 1.6 times the yield strength of 6061-T6, so ribs can be thinner and pockets deeper for the same stiffness. The trade-off is that 7075 is less forgiving: it is more sensitive to heat, more prone to chatter in thin ribs, and it cannot be welded after machining. Our process is set up around those constraints.
- Rib thickness controlled down to 1.2 mm with a floor thickness of 1.5 mm minimum
- Pocket floor flatness held to 0.03 mm so that mating faces seat without shimming
- Hole position tolerance 0.015 mm, bore fit tolerance 0.01 mm for bearing or bushing seats
- Hard anodizing or Type II anodizing applied after machining, with coating thickness allowance built into the bore dimensions
The engineer chooses between 3+2 positioning and full 5-axis simultaneous cutting depending on how many faces carry features. For a typical bracket, the top face, both side faces, and the angled mounting pads are machined in two setups instead of five, which is what keeps hole position consistent between features.
Adaptive roughing with trochoidal tool paths keeps radial engagement constant and evacuates chips fast. Ribs are left oversize by 0.5 mm at roughing so that the finishing pass cuts a uniform skin and does not push the rib sideways.
Ribs are finished with a small-diameter end mill at high spindle speed and a low step-down, working from the pocket floor upward to support the rib while it is being cut. Where a rib is taller than 8 times its thickness, a sacrificial support web is left and removed in a later operation.
Bracket blanks are machined symmetrically, with stock removed evenly from both faces. Parts are released from the fixture before finish boring, then re-clamped on the finished datum pads so that clamping force does not distort the bore during the final pass.
CMM inspection covers the datum scheme, hole pattern position, pocket depths, rib thickness sampling, and bore roundness. Reports are issued per batch, and a first article report with a ballooned drawing is standard for new parts.
- Bracket geometry, pocket layout, and rib pattern are generated from your CAD file — no standard tooling involved
- Materials: 7075-T6, 6061-T6, 2024, 5083, titanium grade 5 on request
- Finishes: hard anodized black, clear anodized, chemical conversion coating, bead blast plus anodize, laser engraved part number
- Inserts: helicoil, key locking inserts, pressed bushings, and dowel pins installed and inspected in-house
- Assembly service: bracket plus mating plate, with alignment checked on granite before packing
- Order size: single prototype, pilot batch of 50, or scheduled monthly releases
Repeat brackets with a fixed monthly volume are scheduled into a reserved machine slot, which removes the queueing delay that causes most late deliveries on custom parts.
| Order Size | Lead Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 – 10 pcs | 3 – 7 working days | Prototype and engineering samples |
| 11 – 100 pcs | 7 – 14 working days | Includes anodizing and insert installation |
| 101 – 1000 pcs | 15 – 25 working days | Scheduled batch releases |
| Above 1000 pcs | By agreement | Monthly call-off with buffer stock option |
Each order gets a named project engineer, a weekly status email with photos of work in progress, and an early warning if a subcontract step such as anodizing threatens the ship date. Shipping is by express, air, or sea, with export documentation prepared by our own team.
Yes, on the features that matter. We will confirm in the DFM report which dimensions can hold ±0.01 mm and which are better specified as a fit with a mating part.
Hard anodizing grows the surface by roughly half the coating thickness per side. We machine the bore undersize by the agreed allowance so the finished bore meets your fit after coating.
No. Drawing review, process proposal, and quotation are free. We only invoice the parts.
We provide a first article report, material certificate, dimensional report, and surface finish report. Full PPAP documentation can be prepared on request for production programs.
