5-Axis CNC Machined 6061 Aluminum Heat Sink Optoelectronic Housing Anodized Finish
6061 Aluminum Heat Sink Housing
,5-Axis Milled Optoelectronic Housing
,Custom Thermal Housing Machining
This 6061 aluminum heat sink optoelectronic housing is a one-piece enclosure for high-power optoelectronic modules, laser diodes, imaging modules and machine vision units. It combines a sealed optical cavity with integrated thin cooling fins on the outside, so the heat generated by the module is pulled into the housing wall and dissipated without a separate heat sink.
The part is milled from a solid 6061 aluminum block on 5-axis simultaneous CNC machining centers with multi-side fixturing, so the deep inner cavity, positioning posts, threaded holes and sealing shoulder stay true to the fin base and mounting flange. Critical features are held to ±0.01mm and verified on a CMM before anodizing.
- Certified 6061 aluminum block selection with material certificate and traceability.
- 3-axis rough machining of the block, removing deep inner cavity stock while forming the integrated thin cooling fins.
- 5-axis simultaneous finishing with multi-side fixturing for cavity, positioning posts, threaded holes and sealing shoulder.
- Drilling/tapping of flange mounting holes with position verification.
- Precision deburr and surface polish, then anodizing (natural or black) for wear and corrosion protection.
- CMM full-dimension and flatness check, protective packing and photo confirmation before shipment.
Dimensional tolerance: ±0.01mm | Sealing face flatness: ≤0.02mm | Fin thickness: 0.5-1.5mm | Fin pitch: custom | Thermal conductivity: ~167 W/m·K
Thermal performance depends on fin geometry and on a flat, well-mated base. We machine the fins to a controlled thickness and uniform pitch so airflow and heat transfer stay consistent, and hold the base sealing face flat to ≤0.02mm so the housing sits squarely against the module and gasket. Sealing shoulders are machined to a custom O-ring or gasket profile for reliable, repeatable sealing of the optical cavity.
6061-T6 aluminum offers high thermal conductivity (~167 W/m·K), a good strength-to-weight ratio and stable machining, making it ideal for integrated heat sink structures. 6063 and ADC12 are available for specific thermal or cost targets. Natural or black anodizing protects against corrosion and handling wear while keeping the thermal surface clean and uniform.
Custom housings are our core business. Send STEP, IGES, STP or DWG files with your cavity, fin and sealing requirements, and our engineering team returns a DFM review within 24-48 hours. From one prototype to series production, we control the full route in-house.
