6061-T6 Aluminum CNC Machined Electronics Enclosure 0.02mm Sealing Groove Anodized
6061-T6 Electronics Enclosure
,0.02mm Sealing Groove Enclosure
,Anodized Thin-Wall Electronics Enclosure
An IP67 enclosure is decided by two features that never appear on the outside: the gasket groove and the flatness of the mating face. We machine these enclosure bodies and lids from 6061-T6 aluminum with wall thickness from 1.5mm, hold the gasket groove to 0.02mm, keep the sealing face flat within 0.02mm, and proof test the assembled pair before shipping — so the unit closes and seals on your line without rework.
| Characteristic | Capability | Verification |
|---|---|---|
| Gasket groove width and depth | 0.02mm | Optical comparator and CMM section |
| Sealing face flatness | 0.02mm | CMM surface map, 100% |
| Wall thickness | From 1.5mm, 0.05mm | Ultrasonic thickness gauge, sampling |
| Body to lid mating fit | 0.05mm gap control | Assembly check of matched pairs |
| Threaded ports | M8–M25 and PG glands, gauge checked | Thread plug gauge, 100% |
| Mounting hole position | 0.02mm | CMM hole pattern report |
| Corner radius and edge break | Per drawing, deburred | Visual and profile check |
| Sealing performance | IP67 equivalent, 30-minute immersion test | Sampled assembly test |
- Body and lid machined as a pair: both halves are cut from the same stock, with the groove and the mating face referenced to a common datum, which keeps the assembled gap consistent instead of relying on tolerance luck.
- Thin wall control: the cavity is roughed with light radial engagement and finished in two stages, and the part is clamped on the flange rather than the wall so the 1.5mm side does not deflect and spring back.
- Groove accuracy: the gasket groove is milled with a dedicated form cutter in a single continuous pass at constant feed, avoiding the step marks that make a moulded gasket leak.
- Sealing face last: the mating face is fly cut after the cavity work, so no later operation disturbs the surface the gasket sits on.
- Thread and port control: ports are thread milled rather than tapped, which keeps the thread concentric and the wall around the port intact.
- Drawing review: wall thickness, groove section, port layout and assembly direction are checked, and DFM notes returned before machining.
- Aluminum block sawed with allowance, faced and squared.
- Cavity roughing on a 5-axis machining center with high-feed tooling.
- Stress relief pause, then semi-finishing of walls and the flange.
- Finishing of cavity walls, gasket groove and mating face; port threads milled.
- Drilling and counterboring of mounting holes, dowel holes reamed where specified.
- Deburring, ultrasonic cleaning and drying.
- Anodizing with masking of grounding and sealing faces where specified.
- Matched pair assembly check, IP67 immersion sampling, protective packing.

Options include integrated heat sink fins on the lid, EMI shielding grooves, transparent window pockets, cable gland ports and custom mounting ears.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has manufactured custom parts since 2008 and exports 50–60% of output to more than 200 customers in automation, robotics, telecom, medical, automotive, aerospace, optics and instrument industries. Around 100 employees run 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centers, turn-mill compound lathes, CNC lathes and milling machines, and the plant handles non-standard aluminum parts and complex cavity work with machining accuracy to 0.01mm.
Prototypes are delivered in 7–10 days and production batches in 15–25 days. Aluminum stock is held in house so a repeat order starts without waiting for material. Each confirmed order is booked into a fixed production slot with a written delivery date, and schedule risks are reported before the promised date rather than after it. Enclosure programs with matched body and lid pairs are scheduled together so neither half arrives alone.
Shipments include a dimensional report covering groove section, sealing face flatness and port threads, the material certificate, anodizing thickness record and the IP67 test record where sampling was performed. First article inspection reports are available for new programs.
IP67 sealing geometry is standard; IP68 needs a defined depth and duration, and we quote the groove section and test method for that specification after review.
Yes, both halves are machined from the same stock and packed together so the assembly gap stays consistent.
