Heavy-Lift Motor Housing With Dual Bearing Seats and a Thrust Washer Pocket
Heavy-lift motors carry propeller thrust straight into the bearing stack, and if the housing gives that load nowhere to go, the bearings take it as preload and the motor runs hot. This cnc machining parts housing adds a machined thrust washer pocket behind the front seat and line bores both bearing seats to 0.008 mm coaxiality, with a retaining ring groove that is cut after coating so the stack height does not move.
Why Heavy-Lift Bearings Fail Early
A 30-inch propeller pushes several hundred newtons of thrust into a motor that was designed around radial load. If the housing has no thrust path, that load lands on the bearing balls as axial preload, and the motor runs hot at hover and fails at a few hundred hours instead of a few thousand.
This housing gives the load a machined path: a thrust washer pocket behind the front seat, ground parallel to 0.01 mm, takes the axial load on a washer instead of the balls. The two seats are line bored in one setup to 0.008 mm, so the rotor spins on one axis, and the retaining groove is cut after anodizing so the stack height never changes between the dry build and the delivered part.
- Thrust path — pocket parallel to 0.01 mm carries axial load on a washer, not the ball set.
- One bore line — 0.008 mm coaxiality across front and rear seats.
- Groove after coating — retaining ring position held ±0.02 mm once anodizing is finished.
- Wall stiffness — 4.5 mm wall, checked by ultrasonic on every part.

Production Process: 9 Operations
- Bearing stack review — bearing series, preload method, thrust washer thickness and propeller load confirmed before machining.
- Material verification — 7075-T5 received by heat number, ultrasonic checked, 3.1 certificate retained.
- Rough turning — OD, stator bore and both bearing bores roughed with 1.0 mm allowance, symmetrical removal.
- First stress relief — low-temperature relief before the 4.5 mm wall is finished.
- Semi-finish — stator bore and seat bosses semi-finished with light radial engagement.
- Second stress relief — a second cycle, then the stator bore is finished to H7 with cylindricity checked through the stack.
- Line boring and thrust pocket — both seats bored in one setup to 0.008 mm, thrust pocket turned parallel to 0.01 mm in the same clamping.
- Hard anodizing and groove — 25 µm hard anodizing with seats masked, retaining groove cut after coating to hold stack height.
- Verification — CMM report on coaxiality, pocket parallelism, groove position and bore cylindricity, FAI shipped.

Custom Engineering
- Bearing stack — deep groove, angular contact pair, or ceramic hybrid with a wave washer.
- Preload — fixed shim, spring washer, or a threaded preload ring.
- Thrust path — washer pocket, needle thrust bearing, or a hardened insert seat.
- Cooling — plain wall or finned OD, with a thermal interface flat to 0.02 mm.
- Sampling — 1 pc assembled with your bearing set for an axial play and run-in check.
Confidentiality and IP Protection
Motor geometry, stator stack and winding data are competitive information, so access is limited from the drawing stage onward.
- NDA first — mutual NDA and non-circumvention signed before any file is exchanged.
- Isolated area — dedicated machines and authorized staff, no phones or photography inside.
- Codified routing — internal codes on travelers and labels instead of your part numbers.
- Data control — per-project folders on a permission server, destroyed on request with a record.
- No display — no drawings, part photos or logos in samples, catalogs, the website or social media.
Company Profile
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd. — founded in 2008, 90-102 staff, ISO 9001:2015 certified, annual sales USD 10-20 million, export share 50-60%, serving customers in Europe, North America, Japan and Southeast Asia.
Machining, stress relief, anodizing and metrology run in one plant: 5-axis and 4-axis machining centers, turn-mill centers, surface grinders, wire EDM, CMM, 2.5D vision metrology and automated anodizing lines. About 12,000 aluminum parts ship each month, most of them small precision parts where the fixture and the boring sequence decide the result.
