Drone Folding Arm Hinge UAV Motor Mount Bracket with 0.01mm Pad Flatness and 0-180 Degree Fold Travel by Aluminum CNC Machining
Folding Arm Hinge Mount

,Hard Anodized Wear Faces
A folding arm is a hinge plus a motor mount, and the two fight each other: the pin bore decides whether the arm folds back to the same position, the motor pad decides whether the propeller disc stays in plane. This CNC machining parts bracket reams the hinge bore and machines the motor pad in one clamping from the same datum — 0.01 mm pad flatness, 0.02 mm thrust-axis squareness, and detents at 0° / 90° / 180° that repeat after folding.
Folding Arm Hinge · Motor Pad 0.01 mm · 6061-T6
A folding arm fails in two places that never appear on the same inspection sheet. The hinge pin bore wears and the arm no longer locks at 90° — the flight controller compensates, so nobody notices until the props are out of plane. Or the motor pad was machined in a second setup, so the thrust axis is tilted 0.05 mm across the pad and the frame vibrates at hover.
This bracket is machined so both features share a datum. The hinge bore is reamed after the clamp is closed, because an aluminum split clamp changes shape when the bolt is tightened; the motor pad and its bolt circle are milled in the same clamping. Wear faces then get 40 µm of hard anodizing, with the pad and bore masked so the fit does not change after coating.
- Reamed after clamping — hinge bore H7 Ø8 held to 0.008 mm roundness with the clamp closed.
- One datum for both features — pad flatness 0.01 mm and thrust-axis squareness 0.02 mm.
- Repeatable detents — detent pockets machined on the hinge axis, not by hand fitting.
- Wear faces coated, fits masked — 40 µm hard anodizing only where it rubs.

- Hinge and thrust review — fold angle, detent positions, motor model and prop clearance confirmed; pad and bore datums agreed before machining.
- Material verification — 6061-T6 received by heat number with ultrasonic check and 3.1 material certificate.
- Rough machining — both halves of the clamp and the pad boss roughed with 0.6 mm allowance, symmetrical removal.
- First stress relief — low-temperature relief so the thin clamp ears do not close up during finishing.
- Semi-finish — hinge faces, detent pockets and pad boss semi-finished, wall and ear thickness measured in process.
- Split and clamp check — the clamp slit is wire cut, the bolt fitted and the ears closed to running torque before boring.
- Hinge bore reaming — pin bore reamed to H7 Ø8 in the clamped state, 0.008 mm roundness, 0.01 mm squareness to the pad.
- Motor pad finishing — pad face and bolt circle milled in the same clamping from the same datum, flatness 0.01 mm.
- Surface and verification — masked hard anodizing 40 µm, pad and bore re-checked, CMM report with FAI shipped with the parts.

Fold angle, detent layout, motor bolt pattern and clamp style all follow your airframe, so nothing here is off the shelf. Send the arm drawing or a sample and we return a DFM note on clamp distortion, pad squareness, detent machining and anodizing masking within 24 hours.
- Fold geometry — 0–180°, single or double detent, left and right hand versions.
- Motor pattern — 16 x 16 to 44 x 44 mm PCD, M2.5 to M4, slotted for timing adjustment.
- Clamp — single bolt split clamp, double bolt, or pinned joint with replaceable bushing.
- Material — 6061-T6 for cost, 7075-T6 where the arm carries a heavy gimbal.
- Sampling — 1 piece for a fold-cycle trial, then volume on the same program.
Airframe geometry and fold kinematics are usually the part a customer does not want circulating, so access is limited at the drawing stage, not at the shipping stage.
- NDA first — mutual NDA and non-circumvention signed before files are exchanged.
- Isolated area — dedicated machines and staff, no phones or photography inside.
- Codified routing — internal codes on travelers and labels instead of your part number.
- Data control — per-project folders on a permission server, destroyed at project end with a record.
- No display — drawings, part photos and logos never enter samples, catalogs, the website or social media.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd. — founded in 2008, 90–102 staff, ISO 9001:2015 certified, annual sales USD 10–20 million, export share 50–60%, serving Europe, North America, Japan and Southeast Asia.
Machining, stress relief, hard anodizing and CMM inspection run on one site, which is what keeps a clamped-and-reamed bore repeatable: the part is never re-fixtured between the bore and the coating. About 12,000 aluminum parts leave the plant each month.
