Robot Joint Motor Mount — H7 Pilot Bore and Reducer Bolt Circle in One Setup
Repeatability of a joint is first lost at the motor mount to reducer interface: a spigot 0.01 mm loose becomes backlash amplified into millimetre-level error at the end of the arm. This motor mount machines the spigot, face, reducer bolt circle and motor mounting face in one setup, with an H7 spigot, 0.01 mm face runout, bolt hole position ±0.02 mm, plus reserved cable channels and routing grooves.
The Tolerance Chain Breaks First at the Motor Mount
A robot joint drive train runs motor, motor mount, reducer, output flange and arm segment. The motor mount is the locating datum of that chain; once it is off, every downstream part can only compensate passively.
- Spigot fit — H7/h6 fit with clearance held at 0.005-0.02 mm, so radial misalignment turns directly into backlash.
- Face runout — spigot face runout 0.01 mm prevents extra bending load on the reducer input shaft.
- Bolt circle — hole position ±0.02 mm on an even bolt circle, preventing flange warp during tightening.
- Stiffness — wall thickness and ribs are designed around the load case; thin-wall motor mounts deflect elastically under impact loads.

Production Process: 9 Operations
| 01 | Structural Review Wall thickness, ribs and bolt circle specifications checked against load and reducer model, with thin-wall and deflection risks flagged. |
| 02 | Material Receipt 6061-T6 or ductile iron received by batch with material certificates checked; castings are visually and dimensionally pre-inspected. |
| 03 | Rough machining OD and spigot rough milled with 0.5 mm allowance, removing most material stress. |
| 04 | Stress Relief Low-temperature stress relief for aluminum, aging for castings per process, preventing distortion after finishing. |
| 05 | Finish spigot and face Turn / bore the spigot to H7 and finish turn the face in the same setup to hold 0.01 mm runout. |
| 06 | Bolt circle and mounting holes Reducer bolt holes, motor mounting holes and locating pin holes drilled and reamed on an angular index, position ±0.02 mm. |
| 07 | Cable channel Cable grooves and pass-through holes milled with rounded edges so the harness is not cut. |
| 08 | Surface Treatment Bead blasting plus anodizing with mating faces masked, spigot dimensions re-checked after anodizing. |
| 09 | Inspection and Shipment CMM checks spigot roundness, runout and hole position; 100% visual inspection; dimensional report shipped with the goods. |
Precision Control and Batch Consistency
Motor mounts are volume parts, and one good piece does not make a good batch. We run first article plus in-process sampling on critical dimensions and keep SPC records.
| Spigot diameter | H7 ±0.005 mm | 100% bore gauge inspection |
| Spigot roundness | 0.005 mm | CMM, first article plus every 20 pieces |
| Face runout | 0.01 mm | Runout gauge / CMM, 100% inspection |
| Bolt hole position | ±0.02 mm | CMM, first article plus every batch |
| Mounting face flatness | 0.01 mm | CMM / surface plate, sampling |
| Process Capability | Cpk ≥ 1.33 on critical dimensions | SPC records retained with each batch |
Custom Engineering
Servo motors and reducers from different brands have completely different interfaces. We machine to the motor and reducer models you specify.
- Interface matching — send motor and reducer models and we check spigot, bolt circle and shaft extension space against the maker drawings.
- Structure Customization — vertical or horizontal, single or dual motor, brake space and encoder cavity all available.
- Material Options — aluminum for weight, ductile iron for damping, stainless for corrosion resistance, selected by operating conditions.
- Volume Ramp-Up — 1 sample, then a 30-piece pilot run, then 5,000-piece production on the same program with no line change.
Confidentiality and IP Protection
Confidentiality is enforced by contract, not by good intentions. An NDA can be signed before drawings are shared, and every step stays traceable.
- NDA First — mutual NDA plus non-circumvention terms; file transfer starts only after signing.
- Isolated Secure Area — access-controlled entry, no non-project staff, no photography inside.
- No Leakage — drawings, part photos and customer brands never enter sample cabinets, catalogs, the website or social media.
- Data Access Control — CAD files sit on an access-controlled server, isolated per project and destructible after delivery.
- Codified Routing — traveler cards and labels use internal codes instead of customer part numbers and project names.
- Sample Management — customer prototypes are numbered and logged, then returned or destroyed as agreed at project end.
Company Profile
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd.Since 2008 we have been providing custom precision machining in Dongguan, with a team of 90-102 staff, serving 200+ Customers, export share 50-60%, annual sales of USD 10-20 million, ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Robot parts are judged by whether they assemble, not merely whether they can be made: a joint is a chain of flange, housing, link and bearing seat, and any out-of-tolerance part is amplified at the assembly end. That is why turning, milling, grinding and inspection all run inside one plant, keeping the tolerance chain closed internally instead of exposing it on the customer's line.
