Product Overview

This large flange connector housing with a square four-hole mount is turn-mill machined by Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd., a CNC factory established in 2008. The large square flange, the external thread and the internal spline are produced in one setup, so the mount face stays flat and perpendicular to the bore, and the four mounting holes stay on spacing. Critical features — flange flatness, hole spacing and diagonal, thread and spline — are held to ±0.01 mm and verified on a CMM.

A large flange is thin relative to its width, which makes it springy. Clamp it hard and it flattens; release the clamps and it bows back. If the face is machined while the part is stressed, it will rock on the panel instead of seating, and bolting it down distorts the housing and the bore. We control this by machining with low clamping force and supported backing, taking light finishing passes, and checking flatness after the part is released from the fixture.

Manufacturing Process & Precision Control

Each large flange housing follows a controlled eight-stage route:

  1. Drawing review & DFM: STEP / IGES / SolidWorks / 2D PDF checked for flange size, hole pattern, thread, spline and wall stiffness.
  2. Material: 6061-T6 / 7075 aluminum with mill certificates.
  3. Turn-mill programming: CAM toolpaths sequenced to keep the flange supported through roughing and finishing.
  4. Roughing with low clamp force: material removed in stages so the flange does not take a set.
  5. Semi-finish & stress equalisation: uniform stock left, part allowed to settle before the finishing pass.
  6. Finish face, thread and spline: flange face finished flat, thread and internal spline cut on the bore axis.
  7. Drilling the 4-hole pattern: holes positioned on spacing and diagonal from the bore datum, then surface treatment.
  8. CMM inspection: flatness, hole spacing and diagonal, thread and spline verified after release from the fixture, with a first-article report.
Custom & Non-Standard Engineering

The large flange housing is a starting point. We machine custom versions with your own flange size, thickness, hole pattern, thread, spline and material — all to drawing.

Confidentiality & IP Protection

We sign an NDA before engineering review, restrict drawings to the assigned programming and machining team, and never display or reuse customer geometry. Fixtures and programs built for your part stay dedicated to your program, and surplus or reject parts are scrapped on request.

Stable Delivery & Factory Strength

Changxinda runs a plant established in 2008 with 90+ staff, multiple turn-mill lathes and 4-axis / 5-axis machining centers backed by a dedicated QC lab.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Q1: Why does a large flange distort during machining?

The flange is thin relative to its width, so clamping force and residual stress make it spring. We machine with low clamp force and supported backing, then finish in light passes and check flatness after release.

  • Q2: How do you control the 4-hole mount spacing?

Holes are drilled in the same setup as the flange and bore, positioned from one datum, then CMM-verified for spacing and diagonal across the pattern.

  • Q3: Can I change the flange size and hole pattern?

Yes — flange size and thickness, hole count and spacing, thread, spline and material can all be machined to your drawing or 3D model.

  • Q4: Do you cut both thread and spline in the same part?

Yes. External thread and internal spline are cut on the bore axis in one setup, so both stay concentric with the mounting face.

  • Q5: Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, before engineering review. Drawings are limited to the assigned programming and machining team and never reused or displayed.

  • Q6: What is the lead time?

Prototypes 3–7 days, small batches 7–14 days, mass production 14–30 days depending on complexity, with rush support available.
