500mm Long Stepped Rotation Shaft with 0.01mm Runout Achieved Through Turn-Mill Single Setup
Stepped Rotation Shaft Turning
,500mm Long Shaft Turn-Mill
,Shaft Runout 0.01mm Precision
This high-precision stepped rotation shaft is machined by Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd., a CNC factory established in 2008. Long stepped shafts up to 500 mm turning length are turned on combined turn-mill lathes with tailstock and steady-rest support, and flats, keyways or cross-holes are milled in the same setup. Runout and concentricity are held to ± 0.01 mm along the full length and verified on a CMM.
A long stepped shaft is one of the hardest turning jobs: as length grows, the workpiece deflects, chatters and bows, and every step must still run true to the common axis. Supporting the shaft with a tailstock and steady rest, sequencing the cuts and controlling heat are what keep a 500 mm shaft straight. Turn-mill capability then lets us cut keyways and flats without re-chucking and losing that alignment.
Each rotation shaft follows a controlled eight-stage route:
- Drawing review & DFM: STEP / IGES / SolidWorks / 2D PDF checked for step diameters, length, runout and keyway spec.
- Material: 6061 / 7075 aluminum or steel with mill certificates.
- Turn-mill programming: CAM toolpaths and support plan for long-shaft turning plus milling in one setup.
- Facing & centering: both ends prepared for tailstock support to control deflection.
- Stepped turning: multi-step diameters turned with steady-rest support to hold runout over 500 mm.
- Milling features: keyways, flats and cross-holes cut without re-chucking.
- Surface treatment: anodizing, plating or per drawing.
- CMM inspection: step diameters, runout and concentricity verified with a first-article report.
The 500 mm stepped shaft is a starting point. We machine custom shafts with your own step sequence, lengths, keyways, threads, flats and materials — all to drawing.
We sign an NDA before engineering review, restrict drawings to the assigned programming and machining team, and never display or reuse customer geometry. Fixtures and programs built for your part stay dedicated to your program, and surplus or reject parts are scrapped on request.
Changxinda runs a plant established in 2008 with 90+ staff, multiple turn-mill lathes and 4-axis / 5-axis machining centers, backed by a dedicated QC lab.

We support the workpiece with a tailstock and steady rest, sequence rough and finish cuts, and control heat so the shaft does not bow. Runout is then CMM-verified to ±0.01 mm along the length.
Yes — turn-mill capability lets us cut keyways, flats and cross-holes in the same setup, so they stay aligned to the shaft axis.
Up to 500 mm turning length in 6061 / 7075 aluminum or steel. Longer shafts and other metals are available on request.
Yes — any step diameters, lengths, keyways, thread and flat arrangement can be machined to your drawing or 3D model.
Yes, before engineering review. Drawings are limited to the assigned programming and machining team and never reused or displayed.
Prototypes 3–7 days, small batches 7–14 days, mass production 14–30 days depending on complexity, with rush support available.
