What This Mount Does

This is a motor or gearbox mounting base: a square plate bolted to a frame, with a circular flange standing at 90 degrees that carries the drive through a register bore. The register bore is the pilot that centres the motor spigot; the four flange bolts do nothing but clamp. That distinction is the whole design, and it is where most cheap versions fail.

Because the bolts are clearance holes, centring comes entirely from the register diameter and from the perpendicularity of the bore to the square base. If the bore tilts 0.03 mm over its length, the motor shaft enters the coupling at an angle, and the coupling or the motor bearing absorbs the error for the rest of its life.

Machining Sequence
  1. Drawing and register review. We confirm spigot diameter and fit, flange thickness, bolt circle, base size, mounting hole pattern and the load direction, then quote within one working day.
  2. Material verification. 6061-T6 plate is checked for grade and temper, and for flatness as received, because a bowed plate produces a base that rocks on the frame.
  3. Base milling first. The square base is milled square and faced flat to 0.01 mm, and that face becomes the datum for everything that follows.
  4. Turn-mill setup on the base datum. The part is held on the finished base in a turn-mill centre, so the flange face and the register bore are machined perpendicular to the same datum the customer bolts down.
  5. Register bore. The bore is bored and reamed to H7 with 0.008 mm roundness, then checked with a plug gauge before the bolt holes are drilled.
  6. Bolt holes and base holes. Flange bolt holes and base mounting holes are drilled with live tooling in the same setup, at ±0.02 mm position, with counterbores cut to depth so bolt heads sit below the surface.
  7. Deburr and anodizing. All edges are broken, the register bore and flange face are masked, and clear or black anodizing is applied with thickness recorded.
  8. Inspection. CMM for bore perpendicularity to the base, flange face runout, bolt circle position and base flatness, then a first article report with the batch.

The Register Fit Does the Centring

On a motor mount, the bolts are not a locating feature. A 9 mm bolt in a 9.5 mm hole allows half a millimetre of movement, so the position of the motor is set by the register diameter and by how squarely that bore sits to the base. That is why a mount can be dimensionally correct on every bolt hole and still produce vibration: the register is loose, or the bore is not perpendicular.

We bore the register after the base is finished, with the part held on the base datum, and we gauge the bore before drilling the bolt pattern. Where a customer specifies a transition fit, we size the bore to the spigot tolerance and confirm the fit with a plug gauge rather than relying on the machine's position reading.

Custom Manufacturing

Base size and thickness, flange diameter, register diameter and fit, bolt circle, mounting pattern, material grade and coating are all built to your drawing. One piece is a normal order with no tooling charge and no setup fee, and the prototype is inspected on the same plan as a batch. If the flange overhangs the base far enough to chatter during turning, our engineer proposes a rib or a revised section before machining.

Confidentiality
  • NDA before files. Mutual non-disclosure is signed before drawings or samples are released, covering geometry, volume, end use and customer identity.
  • No public reference. Confidential mounts never appear as samples, catalogue items, website photos or trade fair parts.
  • Separated cell. Sensitive work runs with named operators and project-coded programmes.
  • Partner control. Anodizing suppliers receive process specifications only.
Company Introduction

Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has machined custom parts since 2008. The plant runs turn-mill centres, CNC lathes with live tooling, four-axis and five-axis machining centres, employs 90 to 102 people under ISO 9001:2015, serves more than 200 customers, exports 50 to 60 percent of output and records annual sales of USD 10 to 20 million.

Delivery Stability
  • Dates in writing. Prototypes 4 to 7 working days, batch orders 12 to 20 working days after drawing approval.
  • Repeat orders skip setup. Programmes, fixtures and plug gauges stay on file.
  • Plate stock on hand. Common 6061 thicknesses are stocked.
  • Early notice. If material, anodizing or capacity threatens the date, you are told before the date is missed.
  • Dispatch evidence. Photos, inspection report and packing list before shipment.

Packing

Each mount is bagged with desiccant, seated in a foam tray so the register bore and flange face cannot be bruised, and packed in a five-layer export carton marked with part number, quantity and batch code. Sea freight ships on fumigation-free plywood pallets; neutral cartons are available.

FAQ

Q: Is the register bore a press fit or a slip fit?

A: To your drawing. Most motor spigots use a transition fit, and we size the bore to the spigot tolerance and confirm with a plug gauge.

Q: Why are the bolt holes not used for location?

A: Because they are clearance holes. Location comes from the register bore, so its perpendicularity to the base is the number that matters.

Q: Can you add a rib between the flange and the base?

A: Yes, and we will suggest it if the flange overhang will chatter during turning or deflect under belt load.

Q: Do you sign an NDA?

A: Yes, before files are released, and confidential parts are excluded from samples and photos.

Q: What is the minimum order?

A: One piece, with no tooling charge and no setup fee.

Send the drawing with spigot diameter and fit, and we will reply with a DFM review, a quotation and a confirmed delivery date within one working day.
