Modular Workholding Fixture Base and Fixture Plate with 0.008mm Flatness, H6 Reamed Hole Grid for Five-Axis Machining
Modular Fixture Base Plate
,Locating Hole Grid
,0.008mm Base Flatness
0.008 mm base flatness · bored hole grid ±0.01 mm · hardened dowel pins
This modular fixture base is the datum every other element of a five-axis setup is built on. If the plate is flat to 0.008 mm and the hole grid is bored and reamed to H6 on a 0.01 mm pitch, a tombstone or a self-centring vise drops on with a light push and the setup repeats from job to job. If the grid is drilled rather than reamed, every pin sits a few microns off and the error compounds through the stack.
The plate is machined from 6061-T6 or 6082-T6 aluminum, 20 to 40 mm thick, with both faces faced parallel and the grid completed in the same clamping as the mounting face. Dowel pins are hardened and ground, pressed to a light interference fit, and left slightly proud so the fixture seats on the pins rather than on the plate surface.
- 1Drawing and grid review. We confirm pitch, hole size, pin type, thread inserts, plate thickness and lifting points, then quote within one working day.
- 2Material verification. Plate is checked for grade and temper, and for flatness as received, before any machining.
- 3Stress relief. The plate is stress relieved so it does not bow after equal material is removed from both faces.
- 4Facing both sides. Both faces are faced with equal stock removal, then the mounting face is finished to 0.008 mm flatness.
- 5Grid drilling. Grid holes are spotted, drilled undersize and then bored to position, which corrects any drill drift before reaming.
- 6Reaming. Holes are reamed to H6 with a sharp reamer and a controlled feed, then checked for roundness and perpendicularity.
- 7Pins, inserts and finishing. Dowel pins are pressed, threaded inserts installed where specified, and hard anodizing applied with every hole masked.
- 8Verification. CMM checks pitch and position across the grid, pin gauge checks hole size, flatness gauge checks the face, and a first article report ships with the plate.
| Mounting face flatness | 0.008 mm |
|---|---|
| Face to face parallelism | 0.015 mm |
| Grid pitch | ±0.01 mm over the full plate |
| Grid hole | H6 reamed, roundness 0.005 mm |
| Hole perpendicularity | 0.01 mm to the mounting face |
| Thickness | ±0.05 mm |
| Surface roughness | Ra 0.8 µm on the mounting face |
A drill walks. On a 50 mm pitch grid, a drill can drift 0.03 to 0.05 mm across a 500 mm plate, and no amount of pin grinding recovers that. Boring each hole to position after drilling brings every hole back to its true coordinate, and reaming afterwards gives the H6 fit that a dowel pin needs. The extra operation is the reason a modular plate holds its pitch after ten years of use, and it is the first thing we explain when a customer compares a low quote with a proper one.
Plate size, thickness, pitch, hole size, pin type, insert type, lifting holes and edge datum rails are all built to your drawing. One plate is a normal order with no tooling charge and no setup fee. If a grid layout would put a hole too close to an edge or to another hole, our engineer returns a DFM note with a corrected layout before machining.
- NDA first. Mutual non-disclosure is signed before drawings or samples are released, covering geometry, volume and customer identity.
- No public reference. Confidential plates never appear as samples, catalogue items or website photos.
- Separated production. Sensitive work runs with named operators and project-coded programmes.
- Controlled partners. Anodizing suppliers receive process specifications only.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has produced custom machined parts since 2008, with four-axis and five-axis machining centres, turn-mill lathes, CNC lathes and milling machines on site. The company employs 90 to 102 people, holds an ISO 9001:2015 quality system, serves more than 200 customers, exports 50 to 60 percent of output and records annual sales of USD 10 to 20 million.
- Dates in writing. Prototypes 3 to 7 working days, batch orders 12 to 22 working days after drawing approval.
- Repeat orders skip setup. Programmes, fixtures and gauge sets stay on file.
- Reserved slots. Blanket orders are booked into fixed monthly machine time.
- Early notice. If material, anodizing or capacity threatens the date, you are told before it is missed.
- Dispatch evidence. Photos, inspection report and packing list before shipment.

Each plate is bagged with desiccant, protected by EPE corner pieces so the ground face cannot be knocked, and packed in a five-layer export carton with the part number, quantity and batch code on two sides. Sea freight goes on a fumigation-free plywood pallet with strapping; neutral packing is available.
Yes. Send the pitch, hole size and pin standard, and we will machine to it. If your existing plate is worn, we can measure it and confirm the actual pitch before quoting.
Yes, hardened ground pins are pressed to a light interference fit and left slightly proud, unless you prefer them loose for your own installation.
It would, so every hole is masked. The H6 fit stays as reamed.
Yes, before files are released, and confidential plates are excluded from samples and photos.
One piece, with no tooling charge and no setup fee.
Send the drawing with pitch, hole size and thickness, and we will reply with a DFM review, a quotation and a confirmed delivery date within one working day.
