0.01mm Guide Bore Accuracy CuCrZr Copper Wire Feed Nozzle CNC Turned in Single Clamping for MIG Welding Torches
Copper Wire Feed Nozzle
,0.01mm Guide Bore Accuracy
,Wear Resistant Copper Turning
This copper wire feed nozzle guides the filler wire from the drive rolls into the contact tip without shaving it. The wire touches the bore at the entry cone and again near the exit, so the two features that matter are the cone angle and the bore straightness: a cone that is too steep scores the wire, and a bore that is not straight sets up a vibration that shows as an uneven bead at high feed rates.
The nozzle is turned from CuCrZr, tellurium copper, brass or 303 stainless, with the guide bore bored and reamed in the same clamping as the thread. The bore is held to 0.01 mm on diameter and position, with 0.005 mm roundness, so a 1.0 mm or 1.2 mm wire passes with a consistent clearance instead of rubbing on one side.
- Drawing review and wire check. We confirm wire diameter, feed direction, torch model, thread size and available length, then return a marked drawing and quotation within one working day.
- Material verification. Copper bar is checked for grade and temper against the mill certificate; CuCrZr is confirmed for aging condition before machining.
- Sawing and facing. Bars are cut with a facing allowance and both ends faced square so the bore starts from a true face.
- Drilling and boring. The guide passage is step-drilled, then bored with a fine boring bar to control straightness, followed by reaming to the final diameter.
- Entry cone machining. The entry cone is turned to the specified angle with a profile tool and blended into the bore without a step, which is where wire shaving usually starts.
- Threading in the same clamping. The external thread is cut to 6g with the bore as reference, keeping thread-to-bore concentricity within 0.01 mm.
- Deburr, clean and finish. The bore is deburred from the inside, the part is ultrasonically cleaned, and chromium plating or passivation is applied where specified.
- Final inspection and packing. Pin gauge and air gauge for the bore, profile projector for the cone angle, CMM sampling for position, then bagging with a first article report.

Most wire feed faults blamed on the liner start at the nozzle: a sharp cone edge or a burr at the bore exit shaves a sliver of copper or steel, the sliver lodges in the contact tip, and the arc starts to wander. We blend the cone into the bore, deburr from the inside, and check the transition under a profile projector. For high-duty automated cells we recommend CuCrZr aged to a higher hardness, or a chromium-plated bore, which roughly doubles the wear life against abrasive flux-cored wire.
Every nozzle is built to your torch: wire diameter, bore length, entry cone angle, thread size and type, overall length, material grade and plating. One piece is a normal order with no tooling charge and no setup fee, and the prototype uses the same programme and inspection plan as the batch. If a drawing feature would raise cost without improving wire feed, our engineer returns a DFM note with a practical alternative and waits for written approval before cutting metal.
- NDA before files. A mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed before drawings, samples or torch models are released, covering geometry, volume and end customer.
- No public reference. Confidential nozzles are never used as samples, catalogue items, website photos or trade show parts; photos need written release.
- Separated production. Sensitive jobs run in a designated cell with named operators, and programmes and fixtures are stored under a project code.
- Controlled data. Drawings stay on an access-controlled server, and plating partners receive the process specification only.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has machined custom metal parts since 2008. The plant runs four-axis and five-axis machining centres, turn-mill combined lathes, CNC lathes and milling machines, with 90 to 102 employees and an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. More than 200 customers are served, 50 to 60 percent of output is exported, and annual sales are between USD 10 million and 20 million. Every custom project has a named engineer, every batch ships with a first article report, and every delivery date is confirmed before the order is accepted.
- Confirmed dates. Prototypes in 3 to 7 working days, batch orders in 8 to 15 working days after drawing approval.
- Repeat orders skip setup. Programmes, fixtures and gauge sets stay on file, so the second order starts in production.
- Reserved capacity. Blanket orders are booked into fixed monthly machine time, keeping the same part arriving in the same week.
- Early warning. If material, plating or gauging threatens the date, you are told before the date is missed, with a partial shipment option.
- Dispatch evidence. Production photos, inspection report and packing list before shipment, tracking number on the day of dispatch.

Each nozzle is bagged with a desiccant sachet, separated by EPE foam so bores and threads cannot knock against each other, and packed in a five-layer export carton marked with part number, quantity and batch code. Sea freight goes on a fumigation-free plywood pallet with strapping and stretch film; air freight uses a reinforced carton with edge protectors. Neutral packing is available for distributors selling under their own brand.
From 0.6 mm to 1.6 mm as standard, with the bore sized to give a controlled clearance. Send the wire type and feed speed and we will recommend the clearance.
Tellurium copper machines well and conducts heat for manual torches; CuCrZr holds hardness for automated cells and abrasive flux-cored wire. Brass is the low-cost option for light duty.
A steep cone scores the wire and creates shavings that jam the contact tip. We match the cone to the wire stiffness and check the cone-to-bore transition under a projector.
