What This Adapter Sleeve Does

This gas nozzle adapter sleeve sits between the MIG torch neck and the gas nozzle, and it determines two things welders notice immediately: whether the nozzle sits square to the wire, and whether it comes off without damaging the torch thread after a week of spatter. The external thread and the internal bore are machined in a single clamping, so the nozzle runs concentric with the torch neck instead of tilting a few tenths of a millimetre to one side.

The body is turned from 303, 304, 316L or 17-4PH stainless steel, or from a copper alloy where heat transfer and spatter release matter more than wear resistance. The seating face is held to a 60 degree angle within half a degree, so the nozzle seats on a face rather than on the thread crest — the usual cause of a loose nozzle and a wandering gas shield.

Production Process
  1. 1Drawing and DFM check. We confirm the torch model, thread callout, seat angle, bore depth and wrench access, then return a marked drawing with a quotation within one working day.
  2. 2Material verification. Bar stock is checked against the mill certificate; copper alloy is checked for grade and temper before it reaches the lathe.
  3. 3Sawing and preparation. Bars are cut to length with a 1 mm facing allowance, and stainless grades are stress relieved where the wall is thin.
  4. 4Turning of bore, seat and body. The bore, seating face, hex flats and outside diameter are turned in one programme, with the bore finished to H7 and the seat angle cut in the same clamping.
  5. 5Thread milling or single-point threading. The external thread is cut on the same machine to 6g tolerance, with the thread axis referenced to the bore so concentricity stays within 0.01 mm.
  6. 6Deburr and thread gauge check. Thread starts and ends are chamfered, the bore is deburred from the inside, and every part is checked with go / no-go gauges before the next step.
  7. 7Surface treatment. Passivation for stainless, anti-spatter coating or tinning for copper alloy, and laser marking of the batch code outside the seat and thread.
  8. 8Final inspection and packing. CMM sampling for seat angle and thread position, air gauge for bore, then bagging with foam separation and a first article report in the carton.
Precision We Hold
Thread to bore concentricity 0.01 mm, checked on a threaded mandrel
Thread tolerance 6g external, go / no-go gauge on every piece
Seat angle 60 degrees, ±0.5 degrees
Seat face flatness 0.01 mm
Bore diameter H7, air gauge reading recorded
Hex across flats ±0.05 mm
Overall length ±0.05 mm
Surface roughness Ra 0.8 µm body, Ra 1.6 µm thread flank
Spatter, Heat and Service Life

Welding spatter is abrasive and it sticks. A sleeve with a rough turned surface gives spatter a mechanical key, and after a few shifts the nozzle will not unscrew by hand. We keep the outside diameter at Ra 0.8 µm or better, offer an anti-spatter coating, and recommend a copper alloy body for high-duty manual stations where heat build-up softens the nozzle seat. For robotic cells running at high duty cycle, 17-4PH aged to H900 gives a harder seat and thread that resists galling when the nozzle is changed every shift.

Non-Standard Customization

All dimensions are built to your torch model, not chosen from a list. We can change the thread type and size, the seat angle, the bore diameter and depth, the hex size, the overall length, the material grade and the coating. One piece is a normal order with no tooling charge and no setup fee, and the prototype uses the same programme and inspection plan as the batch. If a drawing feature is difficult to machine or adds cost without function, our engineer sends a DFM note with a practical alternative and waits for written approval before cutting metal.

Confidentiality
  • NDA before files. A mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed before drawings, samples or torch models are released, covering geometry, volume and end customer.
  • No public reference. Confidential adapters are never used as samples, catalogue items, website photos or trade show parts; photos require written release.
  • Separated production. Sensitive jobs run in a designated cell with named operators, and programmes and fixtures are stored under a project code.
  • Controlled data. Drawings stay on an access-controlled server, and coating or heat treatment partners receive the process specification only.
Company Introduction

Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has machined custom metal parts since 2008. The plant runs four-axis and five-axis machining centres, turn-mill combined lathes, CNC lathes and milling machines, with 90 to 102 employees and an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. More than 200 customers are served, 50 to 60 percent of output is exported, and annual sales are between USD 10 million and 20 million. Every custom project has a named engineer, every batch ships with a first article report, and every delivery date is confirmed before the order is accepted.

Delivery Stability
  • Confirmed dates. Prototypes in 3 to 7 working days, batch orders in 10 to 18 working days after drawing approval.
  • Repeat orders skip setup. Programmes, fixtures and gauge sets stay on file, so the second order starts in production.
  • Reserved slots. Blanket orders are booked into fixed monthly machine time, keeping the same part arriving in the same week.
  • Early warning. If material, coating or thread gauging threatens the date, you are told before the date is missed, with a partial shipment option.
  • Dispatch evidence. Production photos, inspection report and packing list before shipment, tracking number on the day of dispatch.

Packing for Export

Each sleeve is bagged with a desiccant sachet, separated by EPE foam so threads cannot knock against each other, and packed in a five-layer export carton marked with part number, quantity and batch code. Sea freight goes on a fumigation-free plywood pallet with strapping and stretch film; air freight uses a reinforced carton with edge protectors. Neutral packing is available for distributors selling under their own brand.

FAQ
Q: Will this sleeve fit my torch?

A: Send the torch model or the original part number and we will confirm the thread, seat angle and length before quoting. If you only have a sample, we measure it and reverse the drawing.

Q: Why is thread-to-bore concentricity important on a nozzle adapter?

A: If the thread and bore are off-centre, the nozzle tilts and the gas shield becomes uneven, which shows up as porosity on one side of the weld. We cut both in one clamping and verify on a threaded mandrel.

Q: Stainless or copper alloy?

A: Copper alloy transfers heat and releases spatter better for manual stations at high duty; stainless and 17-4PH last longer where abrasion and thread wear dominate.

Q: Do you sign an NDA?

A: Yes, before files are released. Confidential parts are excluded from samples, photos and case studies by default.

Q: What is the minimum order?

A: One piece, with no tooling charge and no setup fee.

Send the torch model, thread callout and annual quantity, and we will return a DFM review, a quotation and a confirmed delivery date within one working day.
