Product Overview

This faceted curved sensor housing is produced on a five-axis turn-mill platform from a single aluminum blank, so the curved shell, the angled chamfered faces, the recessed cavity and the mounting bore all keep their relationship to one another instead of being re-fixtured between operations. It is designed for semiconductor vacuum equipment, optical modules and automation sensors, where a faceted outer form has to look clean, feel safe at every edge and still hold a repeatable position for the sensing element inside.

The outer form carries six chamfered faces at different angles, each blended into the curved wall without a visible step. The recessed cavity is machined with a constant wall section from 1.0 mm upward, and the top rectangular opening accepts a cover or a window without secondary fitting work. The round base gives a stable seating face, and the bore is held perpendicular to that face within 0.01 mm, which is what keeps the sensor axis true after assembly.

How We Machine It — Production Process
  1. Drawing and DFM review. We check wall thickness, chamfer reach, tool access and datum strategy, then return a marked-up drawing and a quotation within one working day.
  2. Material and stress relief. 6061-T6 or 7075-T6 plate is verified against the mill certificate, then stress relieved before roughing so the faceted walls do not move after the final pass.
  3. Roughing and semi-finishing. The blank is roughed on a three-axis path with 0.4 mm stock left on all functional surfaces, which limits heat build-up in thin curved walls.
  4. Five-axis turn-mill in one setup. The part is completed on a turn-mill centre with live tooling and a fourth and fifth axis, so the curved shell, all six chamfered faces, the cavity, the bore and the base are generated without re-clamping.
  5. Chamfer and blend control. Chamfers are cut with a dedicated profile cutter and checked against the 3D model; blend lines at facet transitions are held within 0.02 mm so the anodized finish shows no shadow.
  6. Deburr and surface preparation. Hand deburring only where a tool cannot reach, then ultrasonic cleaning and a bead-blast or brushed preparation matched to the requested anodizing type.
  7. Anodizing and marking. Clear, black, hard or colour anodizing per sample, with laser marking of part number and batch code placed outside the sealing and seating faces.
  8. Final inspection and packing. CMM and 3D scan against the model, first article report filed, then individual bagging with foam separation for export.

Non-Standard Customization

Every dimension on this page is a starting point, not a catalogue limit. We build from your STEP file, PDF drawing or even a sketch with key dimensions, and we can change the facet count, the chamfer width, the cavity layout, the opening size, the base bolt pattern, the material grade and the anodizing colour. There is no tooling charge and no setup fee, so a single prototype is a normal order rather than an exception. If a feature cannot be machined as drawn, our engineers return a DFM note with an alternative that keeps the function and lowers the cost, and we do not cut metal until that point is agreed in writing.

Confidentiality for Customer Designs
  • NDA before drawing release. A mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed before we receive your files, and it covers drawings, models, samples, volumes and end-customer names.
  • No public reference. Confidential parts are never used as samples, case studies, website photos or trade show displays, and no finished photos leave the plant without written approval.
  • Separated production. Confidential jobs run in a dedicated cell with named operators, and the program, tooling and fixture are stored under the project code rather than the customer name.
  • Controlled data handling. Drawings stay on an access-controlled server, are not forwarded to outside processors without approval, and are returned or destroyed at the end of the project on request.
  • Sub-supplier control. Anodizing and heat treatment partners receive only the process specification, never the assembly drawing or the end use.
Company Introduction

Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has been machining custom metal parts since 2008. The plant runs four-axis and five-axis machining centres, turn-mill combined lathes, CNC lathes and milling machines, with 90 to 102 staff and a quality system certified to ISO 9001:2015. More than 200 customers are served, around 50 to 60 percent of output is exported, and annual sales sit between USD 10 million and 20 million. Our work is built around three habits: a first article report with every batch, a named engineer on every custom project, and a delivery date we confirm before the order is accepted rather than after.

Ten Industries We Build For
  • Consumer ElectronicsPhone, tablet and laptop housings, heat sinks, camera brackets, VR/AR headset structural parts, smart wearable shells.
  • Automation & Industrial EquipmentAutomation fixtures, jigs, module frames, transmission sliders, motor mounts, sensor housings, conveyor line parts.

  • Medical DevicesSurgical instrument bases, diagnostic instrument housings, endoscope components, aesthetic device structural parts (medical-grade aluminum and stainless steel).
  • AutomotiveNew energy motor housings, battery end plates, sensor brackets, lamp structural parts, tuning parts, hydraulic valve blocks.
  • Aerospace & UAVAircraft structural parts, drone frames, landing gear parts, avionics instrument housings (lightweight precision parts).
  • Optics & PhotonicsOptical lens barrels, lens mounts, light source heat sinks, camera module brackets, inspection optical benches.

  • RoboticsRobot arm joint parts, robot bases, reducer housings, AGV structural parts.
  • InstrumentationTest equipment housings, precision gauge bases, flow meter parts, laboratory equipment accessories.
Delivery Stability
  • Quoted lead time is a commitment. Prototypes ship in 3 to 7 working days; repeat batch orders run 15 to 25 working days after drawing approval, and we confirm the date in writing before the PO is released.
  • Capacity reserved for repeat parts. Programs and fixtures stay on file, so a repeat order skips programming and first-article time and enters the schedule directly.
  • Batch scheduling. Monthly blanket orders are scheduled in fixed slots, which keeps the same part arriving on the same week each month instead of drifting.
  • Early warning. If a material, anodizing or inspection step threatens the date, we inform you before the date is missed and offer a partial shipment or an air-freight split.
  • Shipment evidence. Production photos, inspection report, packing list and loading photos are sent before dispatch, and the tracking number follows the same day the goods leave.
Packing and Export Handling

Parts are bagged individually with a desiccant sachet, separated by EPE foam so anodized faces never touch, and packed in a five-layer export carton with the part number, quantity and batch code on two sides. Sea freight shipments go on a fumigation-free plywood pallet, stretch wrapped and strapped; air freight uses a reinforced carton with edge protectors. Neutral packing is available for customers who ship under their own brand.

FAQ
Can you machine the faceted form on a lathe rather than a machining centre?

Yes. Our turn-mill centres carry live tooling and a fourth and fifth axis, so the curved shell is turned and the faceted faces, chamfers and cavity are milled in the same setup. That is why the chamfer blend and the bore alignment stay consistent.

What is the minimum order for a custom housing?

One piece. There is no tooling charge and no setup fee for a new drawing, and the prototype is quoted at the same process standard as the production run.

Will you sign an NDA before I send drawings?

Yes, and we prefer to sign first. Confidential parts are excluded from samples, photos and case studies, and the program is stored under a project code.

How do you keep thin curved walls from distorting?

Stress-relieved stock, light roughing passes, finishing after the bulk of the metal is removed, and ultrasonic wall checks on the first part and at fixed intervals through the batch.

What lead time should I plan for?

Three to seven working days for a prototype, fifteen to twenty-five working days for a repeat batch after drawing approval, plus five to seven days if anodizing is included.

Send your drawing or STEP file with the facet layout, chamfer requirement and annual quantity, and we will return a DFM review, a quotation and a confirmed delivery date within one working day.
