Flanged Blind Bore Sleeve with Blind Bore Depth ±0.02mm, Groove Width and Depth ±0.02mm, and Bore to OD Concentricity 0.01mm
Blind Bore Sleeve Depth
,Flanged Sleeve Grooving
,0.01mm Bore Fit
A blind bore sleeve locates a pin, sensor, magnet or spring and stops it at a defined depth. Unlike a through bore, the bottom must be flat, square to the axis and at the correct depth — and chips have nowhere to go. A bottom that is not flat gives a false depth reading; a corner radius the drawing does not call for holds the pin off the seat; a chip left at the bottom shows up as a 0.05 mm short assembly that nobody can explain.
The sequence is therefore: turn the body, cut the groove, then bore to depth with a flat-bottom tool, measure the depth at the centre and near the wall, and clean the bore before the part leaves the machine. Flanges are turned square to the bore so the sleeve seats in its housing, and the outside groove is cut to the seal call-out rather than to a nominal.
ISO 9001:2015 certified · SS304 / 316L / 303, brass C36000 · Bores capped on delivery · Exporting since 2008.
| Stage | Operation | Why It Is Controlled This Way |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bar and certificate | 304, 316L, 303 or brass bar, mill certificate traceable to heat number. |
| 2 | Turn body and flange | Outside diameter and flange turned in one operation; flange face square to the axis so the sleeve seats flat. |
| 3 | Outside groove | O-ring or retaining groove cut before boring, while the part is still rigid; width and depth checked against the seal call-out. |
| 4 | Blind bore | Bore cut to depth with a flat-bottom tool; depth approached in steps and measured, not trusted to a single feed stop. |
| 5 | Bottom face check | Bottom flatness and corner radius verified on the first part; a radius larger than drawing is rejected, not shipped. |
| 6 | Chip removal | Bore blown and flushed, then inspected with a borescope; caps fitted before the part moves to finishing. |
| 7 | Passivation | Passivation per ASTM A967 with bores drained and dried; caps refitted so no residue is trapped. |
| 8 | Inspection and pack | Bore depth, diameter, flatness, groove and flange squareness recorded; parts bagged with caps. |

Blind bore depth is measured two ways on every first article — at the centre of the bottom and near the wall — because a bottom that is dished or convex reads differently in the two places, and that difference is exactly what makes an assembly short.

A sleeve drawing shows what sits inside the bore — a magnet, a sensor, a spring seat — and that is often the most private detail of an instrument. We sign a mutual NDA before opening any file, in English or Chinese or on your own form, and return a countersigned copy before work starts. Only the project engineer, the lathe programmer and the cell supervisor can access the file, which sits in a restricted folder rather than the open shop network. No photographs of customer parts are taken for our catalogue or website, customer parts are never displayed or reused as samples, subcontracting requires your written approval, and at program close files and inspection data are deleted or returned with written confirmation.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has been machining custom parts since 2008: 15+ years, 90 to 100 staff, 50–60% exported to North America and Europe, 200+ customers served, turnover in the RMB 10–20 million band. The floor holds CNC lathes, turn-mill combined centres with sub-spindle and live tooling, and 4-axis / 5-axis machining centres under an ISO 9001:2015 system, producing parts for medical, robotics, automotive, aerospace, automation, laser, LED, lithium battery and precision instrument programs. Turning, grooving, boring, passivation coordination and borescope inspection are all in our own plant in Dongguan.
Turned sleeves and housings from this plant ship into ten industries. Each line is a category we machine regularly, with the parts customers actually order.
| Industry | Typical Parts We Machine |
|---|---|
| Consumer electronics | Phone, tablet and laptop housings / heat spreaders / camera brackets / VR and AR headset structural parts / smart wearable enclosures |
| Automation and industrial equipment | Automation jigs and fixtures / module frames / linear guide blocks / motor mounts / sensor housings / conveyor line components |
| Semiconductor and vacuum | Vacuum chamber bodies / vacuum fittings / precision bases for semiconductor equipment / thermal and insulating parts / inspection tooling |
| Medical equipment | Surgical instrument bases / medical instrument housings / endoscope components / aesthetic device structural parts (medical grade aluminium and stainless) |

All ten sectors run through the same plant and the same ISO 9001:2015 inspection discipline — only the material, finish and documentation package change.
- Prototype: 3–7 working days after drawing approval, including passivation.
- Small batch 10–100 pcs: 7–14 working days.
- Repeat orders: run from archived programs, collets and boring bars; blind depth and groove position repeat to the same values.
- Capacity: 10,000 pieces per month across the plant.
- Visibility: a dated progress note with photographs of your actual sleeves at turning, boring and inspection.
- Shipping: bores capped, parts bagged, foam-lined export carton, express or air and sea per your forwarder.
- Rush: overtime slots and an express passivation line held weekly; tell us the deadline and we confirm before you order.
A: The depth is approached in steps, measured at the centre and near the wall, and corrected before the last pass — not trusted to a single feed stop. The first article of every batch is measured both ways and the numbers go into the report; if a bottom is dished, the two readings disagree and the part is re-cut.
A: Yes, and we cut the radius you specify rather than the tool's natural corner. A larger radius than drawing holds a pin off its seat, so the radius is on the inspection sheet and checked on the first part with a profile gauge.
A: Blow and flush on the machine, borescope inspection before the part moves on, and caps fitted before passivation and packing. On parts with a very small bore we also vacuum after flushing, and the caps stay on until your line opens them.
A: Normally not. The flange is turned in the same operation as the outside diameter and its face squared to the bore, which is what stops the sleeve rocking in its housing. Where a flange is larger than the bar, we quote from billet and say so up front.
A: One piece, no tooling charge. Price follows material, bore size and depth, groove complexity, tolerance band and finish; a written quotation normally returns within 24 hours.
A: Yes. NDA signed and countersigned before the file is opened, access limited to the engineer, programmer and supervisor, no photographs of customer parts, nothing published without written permission.
Attach the drawing or model with the quantity and the deadline, and you will receive a quotation, the process route including passivation, and a firm delivery date. NDA paperwork can be dealt with in the same exchange.
