Robot Tooling Fixture Set 6061 Aluminum Locating Blocks Clamps Ground 0.01mm Hole Pitch
Locating Block Fixture Set
,Ground Datum 0.01mm Hole Pitch
,Matched Serial Tooling Set
Built as a Set, Not as Loose Parts
A fixture is only as good as the agreement between its parts. If the locating block, the support post and the clamp strap are machined as unrelated jobs, the assembly ends up shimmed on the shop floor. This tooling set is therefore produced as one project: the datum scheme is fixed across all components, the hole pitch is generated from one programme, and the parts are serialised so a replacement block can be made later and still land on the same pitch.
Typical contents are locating blocks with ground faces and reamed dowel holes, low-profile clamp straps with slotted holes, cylindrical support posts in graded heights, a base rail with a precision hole grid, and hardened dowel bushings. Any component can be replaced or added; the set is not fixed to a catalogue.
How a Tooling Set Is Made
Components are machined to individual process cards but share one datum strategy. That is the difference between a set that assembles first time and a box of parts that needs rework.
Precision Capability
| Characteristic | Held To | Verification |
|---|---|---|
| Hole pitch across the set | 0.01 mm | CMM, global datum |
| Locating face flatness | 0.005 mm | Granite plate and indicator |
| Face parallelism | 0.01 mm | Micrometer, ground faces |
| Squareness of block to base | 0.01 mm | CMM, datum corner |
| Dowel hole fit | H7, honed | Pin gauge, every hole |
| Slot width | 0.02 mm | Pin gauge, wire-cut features |
| Support post height match | 0.01 mm within a set | Height gauge, graded |
| Datum face finish | Ra 0.4 µm | Roughness tester, per set |
These are set-level numbers, measured on the assembly datum, not on isolated parts. If a drawing asks for tighter than the route can repeat, we raise it at quotation and propose a change in design or process.
Custom and Non-Standard Tooling
Tooling is built to your assembly. There is no fixed catalogue behind this page.
- Components: locating blocks, rest pads, clamp straps, swing clamps, support posts, base rails, bushings, gauge stands, poka-yoke pins
- Materials: 6061-T6, 7075-T6, 6082-T6, 4140 pre-hardened steel, 304/316L stainless, POM and PEEK on request
- Treatments: clear or black anodize, hard anodize 25-50 µm, chromate, black oxide, nitriding on steel parts
- Set sizes from a single locating block to a multi-station fixture with 40+ components
- Serialised sets with laser part numbers, revision and set ID for repeatability and spare-part reordering
- Input formats: STEP, IGES, X_T, STL, DXF, 2D drawing with GD&T, or a sample for scanning and rebuild
- Drawing revisions tracked, so a second set made a year later matches the first
Confidentiality
- Mutual NDA signed before drawings, models, scans or samples are exchanged
- Files held on a restricted local server, access limited to the assigned engineer and programmer
- Quotations, CMM sheets and shipping labels carry an internal project code, not your process or product name
- No photograph, sample or reference of your tooling is released without written approval
- Fixtures, gauge designs and NC programmes built for your job remain your property
- Files, programmes and backups deleted at project close on request
The Workshop
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has made custom machined parts since 2008. Capacity covers 4-axis and 5-axis machining centres, turn-mill combination lathes, CNC lathes and milling machines, plus wire EDM and surface grinding, under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system with an in-house CMM room. Over 200 customers in medical equipment, robotics, automotive, aerospace, automation, laser, LED, lithium battery and precision instruments are served from this plant, and 50-60% of output is exported. Tooling work runs on the same floor as production parts, so a fixture can be built, trialled and revised without leaving the building.
Delivery on Tooling Projects
| Stage | Lead Time | What You Receive |
|---|---|---|
| Quote and DFM | Within 24 hours | Component list, datum plan, cycle estimate |
| First set, 1-5 sets | 5-10 days | Trial assembly photos, set report, FAI |
| Repeat sets, 5-20 sets | 10-18 days | Progress report, serialised parts |
| Programme supply, 20+ sets | Scheduled | Staged shipments to your build plan |
- Capacity around 10,000 pieces per month for this component family
- Repeat sets use the same programme, datum plan and serialisation, so a spare block matches an existing fixture
- Each set is allocated across two machining centres to protect the date
- Express, air and sea freight; EXW, FOB or CIF terms; components bagged and labelled by set serial for kitting
- Rush capacity for line-down or launch situations, quoted with a date we can hold
Key Features
- Set-level datum scheme shared by every component
- 0.01 mm hole pitch measured on the assembly datum

FAQ
Q: Can you build a single set for a new assembly line?
A: Yes. One set is a normal order with no tooling charge and no programming fee, and every component is quoted individually so you can add or drop items.
Q: Will you sign an NDA before we send fixture drawings?
A: A mutual NDA is signed first, covering drawings, models, scans and samples. Fixture work is treated as process know-how and handled under the same terms.
Q: How do you keep a replacement block matching an old set?
A: The set has a fixed datum plan, a serial number and a recorded programme. A replacement made later is cut from the same programme and verified against the set report.
Q: Can components be hardened or coated without changing the fit?
A: Datum faces, dowel bores and locating surfaces are masked before anodize or coating, and steel parts can be nitrided. Fit is verified after treatment, not assumed.
Q: What is the lead time for a first set?
A: 5-10 days for a typical set, including trial assembly. Complex multi-station fixtures are quoted with a real date after the drawing review.
Q: What do you need to quote a tooling set?
A: Assembly drawing or STEP model, the component list, mating part dimensions or samples, quantity of sets and target date. Quote and DFM comments return within 24 hours.
