Bronze Flanged Bushing Oil Grooves Precision Bore CNC Lathe Machined 0.01mm Fit
Bronze Flanged Bushing
,Oil Groove Bush Bearing
,Precision Bore Bushing
This flanged bronze bushing is turned from centrifugal-cast tin bronze or aluminium bronze bar, with a precision reamed bore, two circumferential oil grooves and four axial oil slots, plus an integral flange carrying the thrust face. The bore is the whole function of the part: a bushing that is out of round by two hundredths will run hot no matter how good the shaft is, and an oil groove that is too shallow loses its oil film within a few thousand cycles. It is used as a plain bearing in pumps, gearboxes, conveyor rollers, agricultural implements and machine slides.
Bronze cuts freely but smears if the tool is dull, and grooves cut after the bore is finished can raise a burr into the running surface. The order below avoids both.
| Step | Operation and control point |
|---|---|
| 1. Bar and material check | Centrifugal-cast bronze bar cut oversize; chemistry and porosity checked at the cut face, heat number recorded. |
| 2. Facing and centring | Both ends faced square and centre drilled so the bushing runs true in later operations. |
| 3. Rough boring and turning | Outside diameter and flange roughed, bore pre-bored with 0.5mm allowance so the finishing cut is light and does not tear the bronze. |
| 4. Oil groove turning | Circumferential grooves cut with a form tool at controlled depth, groove width and depth to +/-0.05mm, edges left radiused so they do not scrape the shaft. |
| 5. Axial oil slots | Four axial slots milled or slotted on the C-axis, positioned evenly and blended into the circumferential grooves so oil actually reaches the load zone. |
| 6. Bore finishing | Bore finished with a sharp positive-rake boring bar then reamed or roller burnished to H7 with 0.005mm roundness. |
| 7. Flange face and step | Flange face turned square to the bore within 0.01mm and the locating step machined for a press fit into the housing. |
| 8. Bore deburring after grooving | Every groove and slot edge hand-deburred and verified with a light finger check plus bore gauge, so nothing stands proud in the running surface. |
| 9. Cleaning and impregnation | Ultrasonic cleaned; optional oil impregnation for self-lubricating grades. |
| 10. Final inspection | Bore gauge and CMM check of roundness, cylindricity, groove depth and flange squareness; report shipped with each lot. |
| Bore tolerance | H7, or a defined interference for press fit |
| Bore roundness | 0.005mm |
| Bore cylindricity | 0.008mm |
| Wall thickness variation | 0.05mm |
| Flange face squareness to bore | 0.01mm |
| Flange thickness | +/-0.02mm |
| Oil groove width and depth | +/-0.05mm |
| Bore surface roughness | Ra 0.4-0.8um |
| Outside diameter | +/-0.01mm |
| General tolerance | +/-0.01mm critical, +/-0.05mm general |
Groove depth is checked optically as well as with a depth gauge, because a bronze groove with a raised edge still measures to depth while the shaft rides on the burr. Bore roundness is measured in three sections along the length, not only at the mouth.
Bushings are matched to the shaft and housing, so bore, flange and lubrication pattern are all made to your drawing.
- Bore from 4mm to 150mm, outside diameter to 200mm, length to 300mm.
- Flange: plain thrust face, stepped locating flange, double flange, or flange with bolt holes.
- Lubrication: circumferential grooves, axial slots, spiral groove, cross-pattern groove, oil holes through the wall, grease nipple port.
- Materials: tin bronze CuSn8, aluminium bronze CuAl10Fe3, lead-free bronze, brass, or bimetal steel-backed bronze.
- Fits: H7 running fit, press fit with interference, or clearance matched to your shaft tolerance.
- Finishing: oil impregnation, graphite plugging, deburred bore edges, chamfered lead-in.
- Prototype from 1 piece, with the same program and form tool kept for repeat orders.
Send the shaft diameter with its tolerance, load and speed, and our engineering team recommends the bore fit and groove pattern with a quote, usually within one to two working days.
Dongguan Changxinda Precision Technology Co., Ltd has produced custom CNC parts since 2008 in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. The facility operates CNC lathes, turn-mill combined lathes and 4-axis and 5-axis machining centers with about 100 employees, including dedicated CAM programming and quality teams. More than 200 customers are served in medical equipment, robotics, automotive, aerospace, automation, laser, LED, lithium battery and precision testing instruments, with 50-60 percent of output exported. The company is ISO 9001:2015 certified, holds annual sales in the USD 10-20 million range, and inspects in house on CMM, bore gauges and roughness testers. Bushings, sleeves and bearing housings are everyday work, using the same capability applied to fluid handling and automation components.
- Monthly capacity above 10,000 pieces for bushings and sleeves, with reserved capacity for repeat programmes.
- Typical lead time: 3-7 days for prototypes, 7-14 days for 10-100 pieces, 14-30 days for mass production.
- Form tools, programs and the approved first article are archived against your part number, so groove geometry repeats without re-grinding tools.
- Bore and groove reports ship with every lot, keeping your incoming inspection short.
- Rush service and scheduled release shipping available for projects with a fixed line-side date.
- Export packaging: bore protected, oiled bag where specified, desiccant, master carton, palletized for LCL or FCL.
Pump and motor bearings, gearbox bushings, conveyor roller ends, agricultural implement pivots, machine slide bearings, hydraulic cylinder rod guides, marine shaft bearings, and custom non-standard flanged bushings built to customer drawings.
Why cut the oil grooves before finishing the bore?
Grooving after finishing raises a burr into the running surface that a depth gauge will not detect. Grooves are cut while the bore still has allowance, then the bore is finished and every groove edge is hand-deburred, so the shaft never rides on a raised edge.
What bore fit should I specify?
H7 for a running fit, a defined interference for a press fit into the housing, or a clearance matched to your shaft tolerance for a specific oil film. Send the shaft diameter with its tolerance, plus load and speed, and we recommend the fit rather than leaving it to convention.
Which bronze grade should I choose?
CuSn8 tin bronze for general plain bearing duty with good embeddability, aluminium bronze CuAl10Fe3 for higher load and slower speed, lead-free grades for regulated markets, and bimetal steel-backed bronze where the housing needs extra stiffness.
How is repeat-order quality kept stable?
Form tools, programs and the approved first article are archived against your part number, and repeat lots are booked on reserved capacity above 10,000 pieces per month. Every lot ships with bore roundness and groove depth data.
